Your Vote is Secret!

The voting process is protected by the Municipal Elections Act. Votes are private & confidential.  Township Staff and Candidates do not have access to see how a resident voted.

Information on candidate selection made by electors while e-voting is data encrypted at the source and moves in an encrypted format to the e-voting system. The information, once in the e-voting system gets stored on the system, once again in an encrypted state, so the choices made cannot be discerned. Additionally, any connection between the elector who cast the ballot, and the PIN used by that person, is severed and not matched in the system.

This is similar to the paper voting process where a voter goes into a polling location and identifies themselves to the election worker, who crosses them off the elector list, and gives them a ballot to mark.

Once again in the paper process, once a voter marks their ballot, and drops into the ballot box with all the other ballots, their choices cannot be determined. Once the election ends the ballots are tallied, and the winners declared.

The same process takes place in the e-voting process where the electronic encrypted ballot is received by the system and it is stored in the systems database in an encrypted format so that no one can determine who provided the ballot. A ballot receipt process tracks the fact that a ballot was cast but does not link the ballot to the voter.

Ensuring the anonymity of the voter and the secrecy of the ballot are important considerations in the design and function of any e-voting system and Intelivote’s system complies and safeguards these important aspects when a vote is cast in the system.

Public Works Speed Study

The Public Works Department will be conducting a speed study at 15th Sideroad between 5th Line and Airport Road.

The data gathered in spot speed studies are used to determine vehicle speed percentiles, which are useful in making many speed-related decisions. The intent of spot speed studies are to record speed characteristics under prevailing traffic conditions at a specific location along a roadway.
