Republic School District Families and Employees,
As you may have seen, the CDC has released new guidance on reducing the number of required quarantine days to 10 as opposed to the current 14 for those without symptoms. In addition, they recommend that those in quarantine can "test out" as early as the fifth day after exposure with a negative COVID19 test. Although the test can be completed as early as the fifth day, the individual cannot be released from quarantine until the seventh day. The test must be a PCR or an antigen test.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced that they will be following these guidelines effective immediately. This means that:
- Any student or employee who is currently on quarantine who has served a minimum of 10 days can return to school as early as tomorrow, Thursday, December 3 as long as they do not have any COVID19 symptoms.

Students and employees who test negative for COVID19 on or after their fifth day of exposure can also return to school on the seventh day after exposure. This can happen as early as tomorrow, Thursday, December 3 AFTER consultation with the school nurse and providing a hard copy of a negative test result to the school. These individuals must also be symptom free before coming back to school.
