Maker Space Donations Needed

Here at McKnight, we are looking forward to working together in the last quarter of this school year to make it the best it can be. Many of our classes have started to utilize our Maker Space to hone their design and collaboration skills. As such, we are hoping to put out a call for a few items to be donated, if you have them. Our Maker Space could use:

  1. Empty Toilet Paper Rolls
  2. Empty Paper Towel Rolls
  3. Lego Blocks (if you happen to find any abandoned sets during spring cleaning)

We’re happy to take any of these items off of your hands. Please send with your student to drop off in the Maker Space, or please drop off in the office and we can get them from there. Thanks in advance!

Dress-Up

Each month a dress-up day will be offered and students will have the opportunity to participate with a $1 donation. April’s dress-up day, Superhero Day, is Friday April 16. Students may dress as their favorite Superhero at school for a $1 donation.

Support for Students During Ramadan

Ramadan begins next week and we know that many families in the District and the community are busy preparing for the month ahead. To respect this time of fasting, each school will provide a place for reflection for students during lunchtime. For families observing Ramadan, please let your teacher or principal know how we can best accommodate your students/family during this time.
Earth Day Cleanup 2021

A group of students from the North Allegheny Social Justice Club are organizing a District-wide Earth Day cleanup. Participants can sign up through the student club’s website by listing where volunteers will be participating. The sign up will serve as a pledge system for community members who want to help by picking up litter. The group is facilitating this activity to help the community in a simple and collective way. Safety guidelines are listed on the website, including wearing a mask and maintaining appropriate social distance when necessary.

Questions about the event can be sent via email to naearthday2021@gmail.com or the contact form on the website.
