Director of Athletic Sports Turf and Grounds

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Athletic Sports Turf and Grounds for Rutgers Athletics. The Director of Athletic Sports Turf and Grounds will plan, manage and oversee all the athletic department practice and game fields which consists of grass and synthetic fields. This includes oversight of the grounds at SHI Stadium, Yurcak, Baseball, Softball, Field Hockey, Soccer and the Rutgers Football Marco Battaglia practice complex to be the best maintained fields for the student athletes, coaching staff and support staff. 

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Implement, manage and execute an operating budget for the grounds department complex. 

Makes recommendations for proposals for capital project needs, develops assessment program for athletic fields, facilities and grounds. 

Oversees the seeding, irrigation, renovation, painting and daily upkeep of the fields. 

Works on both natural grass football training fields as well as the artificial infill turf practice training field and other surrounding landscape. 

Maintenance of the Rutgers Football Marco Battaglia practice complex with be the position’s top priority. 

Oversees the grounds crew which includes a foreman and grounds workers.
