A message from our Missions Pastor

Hey Legacy Family,

Can you believe it is already November? Time is flying and we have so much to accomplish for the Kingdom of God before the year ends. As we move towards 2023 I want to say thank you Legacy for all your engagement in Missions. You all have given in a way that allows us to be a blessing to our partners, community, DFW, and the world!

November 13, will be a day of awareness in Missions. First, we will have the opportunity to meet with the Bolivia mission team Shelby Vanmaanen served with. This is an awesome opportunity to hear from a team currently serving in the mission field. Please check out the Bolivia Interest Meeting Section below for more details. Then, that evening, we will hold a Culture Wise session to begin a conversation on technology. This is a conversation many are already having and we would like to have this conversation with you, our Legacy Church family. Please look below in the Culture Wise Section for more details.

God is doing great things in our midst! He is drawing people here that need to know Him more, and He is encouraging many to start praying for the salvation of those within their sphere of influence. I want to challenge you this month to pray for those whom you know that do not personally know Jesus. Pray for them, pray for God to incline their heart to Him, pray for an opportunity to share, and pray for a receptive heart to listen. I will be praying the same and for us all to be ready to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Missions Spotlight

Operation Christmas Child 2022

Last year we filled 327 physical boxes and 20 online boxes for an all-time high of 347 Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoeboxes that shared the message of Jesus to unreached children of the world.

This year we have set a goal for 400 total boxes. 300 of our 400 shoeboxes have been passed out thus far! You can still pick up a shoebox or two through Thursday, November 10.

Please make sure to return your shoebox(es) to church on Sunday, November 13. Place your filled box on the stage so we can pray for all the children who will receive them.

Helping Hands Team

As people reach out for help, the Helping Hands team meets with the requestor on a Wednesday evening at Legacy Church to assess the need and submit team findings to our finance team. Only three team members are needed for an assessment, so the time investment required by team members is low volume.

If you are interested, please register for this training session on Sunday, November 6, at 8:45 am in adult classroom 124.

Bolivia Interest Meeting

Sunday, November 13, from 2:30-3:30 pm, Shelby Vanmaanen will be holding an interest meeting about her mission work in Bolivia. She serves with an organization involved in human trafficking relief and fighting against sexual exploitation.

Some of the Bolivia Team will be here to meet our Legacy Church family. They will be attending our worship service that morning. If you would like to meet them and hear more about their mission's work, please join Shelby and the team at 2:30 pm for this meeting. Please note that the material shared in this meeting is of a mature nature.

Culture Wise, Sunday November 13 at 5 pm

We want to begin a conversation that many of us are having within our homes. With the demand for technology, we are seeing conversations happening within our communities, our schools, the news, and in documentaries, movies, and tv shows, all having to do with some element of technology and how it is affecting us today.

Join us on Sunday, November 13 at 5 pm in the Worship Center for our next session of Culture Wise!

Impact Sunday, November 27

Sunday, November 27, is Impact Sunday. Join us for service as we worship and celebrate what God is doing through our missional outreach.

We will have a special guest speaker, Shelby Vanmaanen, that morning. You will not want to miss what she has to share!

Celebrate the Wins

Thanks to your faithful giving to the General Fund, in addition to Legacy's monthly giving to our mission partners, we celebrate:

Emily's Place - $2,100 for residents' (moms and children) Christmas gifts and $479 for transportation to and from church services
Hope Restored Missions - $1,000 to support their "See Me Campaign", supporting homelessness and poverty in our community
Heavenly Bridge Ministries - $1,000 for flooring in two churches in Uganda
