Prince George's County COVID-19 Hourly Employee Relief Fund Snapshot
To date, EPG has successfully distributed over

in EPG Cash Cards to 1,454 Prince George's County Residents affected and laid off due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)! 
EPG's Prince George's County COVID-19 Hourly Employee Relief Fund has been a huge success, thanks to donations, partnerships, and support from an awesome community!

To date, we have raised $553,132 from sponsorships, businesses and individual donations!

Workforce Highlights
This year marks not only the 75th observance of NDEAM, but also the 30th anniversary of the ADA. Both milestones are being commemorated with a range of events and activities centered on the theme "Increasing Access and Opportunity."

Employ Prince George's, Inc. has received a $175,000 grant from Maryland Department of Labor, through the United States Department of Labor’s COVID-19 Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant to strengthen and revitalize Prince George's County's workforce after significant job losses and business closures due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Landover-based grocer Giant Food announced Tuesday a commitment of $500,000 to support long-standing community partner organizations and local historically Black colleges and universities to support their work and engagement to address equity across efforts in education, mentorships, programming and nutrition for children and adults.
BALTIMORE (September 18, 2020) – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released state jobs and unemployment data. According to the preliminary survey data, Maryland added 24,200 jobs and the unemployment rate decreased to 6.9% in August. In the last four months, Maryland has gained 183,200 jobs.
Nando’s Peri-Peri will open its newest D.C.-area location in Prince George’s County, Maryland, in early October. It’s at the Woodmore Towne Centre, in Glenarden, and will be Nando’s 31st location in the Washington and Baltimore areas, where most of its U.S. locations are located.
Governor Larry Hogan announced, on July 28, 2020, that 223 businesses have now been approved to participate in the Maryland Department of Labor’s Work Sharing Unemployment Insurance Program. As Marylanders continue to navigate challenges related to COVID-19, this program preserves jobs by providing employers with a flexible alternative to layoffs. Employees can be retained at reduced hours while collecting partial unemployment benefits to make up a portion of the lost wages.
The latest revenue projections represent an improvement from a dire forecast in May, but underly the need for the federal government to provide more stimulus funding.
