Nominations for the 2023 class of show hunters and horsemen are open through September 1, 2022
We have made our nomination and voting procedure easier this year to encourage more people to participate.
  • Anyone can nominate a horse or horsemen – go to the Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame website and either fill out the online form or print it out and mail it back to us at the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club Office.
  • There is no membership requirement or fee.
  • Up to 3 horses and 2 horsemen will be inducted, as well as one Elma Garcia Award Winner (awarded to an exceptional child/adult hunter).

Once nominations are received, if the nominee meets the criteria outlined on the website they will be put on the ballot. Our distinguished list of previously inducted horsemen will vote on who to induct in 2023. If there is a conflict of interest on a particular nominee then that horsemen will abstain from the vote.

2023 election committee: Jack Towell, Carol Kent, Pat Dodson, Maryann Charles, Don Stewart, Patty Heuckeroth, Jeanne Smith, Betty Oare, and Danny Robertshaw.

The Carolinas Show Hunter Hall of Fame is run entirely by a small group of volunteers and is under the umbrella of the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, which is a non-profit organization. Without financial support from generous donors and sponsors we could not continue to put this program on each year.

The Tryon Hounds is proud to present the Trip Hoffman Memorial Riding Scholarship for fox hunting enthusiasts in Polk, Henderson, Rutherford, Spartanburg, and Greenville counties for the 2022-2023 hunt season.

Fox hunting has been a part of the areas culture for nearly one-hundred years and enjoyed by equestrian enthusiasts who appreciate the sport and tradition. This scholarship helps ensure the sports place within the community for future generations by assisting with membership dues. Trip Hoffman was a Tryon resident and beloved riding member of the Tryon Hounds for decades. He also served on the Tryon Hounds Board of Directors and was the hunt club’s social committee chairman for many years.

"We are grateful to the Hoffman family for providing the seed money that helped to establish this fund”, said Bonnie Lingerfelt, Joint Master of the Tryon Hounds. "It is a wonderful way to honor Trip and support his love for the Tryon Hounds and the long-standing tradition of riding to hounds". For an application and eligibility requirements please visit https://tryonhounds.com/support/trip-hoffman-memorial-fund

Application deadline for 2022/2023 hunting season is September 14, 2022. The winning applicant(s) will be chosen by Tryon Hounds Masters, Huntsman and President of the Board of Directors. All donations to the fund are welcome and will be recognized on the Tryon Hounds website. Donations can be mailed to the Tryon Hounds c/o The Trip Hoffman Memorial Fund, PO Box 112, Tryon NC 28782.
