Together, we are striving to raise $3 million from 100,000 donors to go towards the cost of purchasing personal protective equipment for Jewish human service providers and others on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.

NJHSA is proudly participating in  Pledge to Protect , a crowdfunding effort powered by Jewish Together to raise funds that will directly support Jewish human service agencies serving our communities.

Neshama - Managing the Stress of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains , a Network member agency, is offering a second series of COVID calls to provide support to Network agencies and their employees as they deal with the stresses of the COVID-19 pandemic. The facilitators for these sessions are Board-certified chaplains who have years of experience in helping people dealing with adversities that they face. Calls will run the first 3 Mondays of the Month of May at noon ET.

ADVOCACY
Census 2020 Update

The Census Bureau has proposed extending the window for field data collection and self-response to October 31, 2020, which will allow for apportionment counts to be delivered to the President by April 30, 2021, and redistricting data to be delivered to the states no later than July 31, 2021. This proposal has not yet been approved by Congress. Click here for the press release .

National Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day 2020
Combating Social Isolation for Seniors During
the COVID-19 Pandemic

In It Together: Peer Discussion Groups for Jewish Community Professionals Who Have Been Laid Off or Furloughed

NJHSA and JPRO Network invite anyone who has been laid off or furloughed from a Jewish organizations to take part in weekly peer-to-peer processing sessions. Participants will be placed in groups of up to ten, which will meet six times (and more if wanted). Groups will be moderated by a licensed social worker with expertise in group work, as well as a career counselor from a Jewish Human Services Agency.
Self-Employment Possibilities and Resources for People with Mental Health Challenges

This session will focus on three primary factors to contemplate when people receiving behavioral support services are considering self-employment, including the match between the business idea with the prospective business owner’s conditions of employment, feasibility of the business concept and availability of needed supports. Several possible resources for funding business start-ups will also be explored as well as strategies for braiding and blending funding.
Call Line Launches to Create Safer Jewish Workplaces

As many professionals continue to transition to online workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic, gender abuse, discrimination and harassment continue and may be increasing.  Ta'amod: Stand Up! , an initiative dedicated to helping Jewish communal organizations and institutions create safe, respectful, and equitable workplaces and communal spaces, is launching a  new call line  to support individuals who have experienced or witnessed such behavior - online or in person. NJHSA is a partner of Ta'amod. NJHSA member agencies are encouraged to share this new resource with all staff. Learn more here .
