Well, here we are: week NINE of quarantine. Our city and state are opening up  and now we are starting to navigate the "new normal." It's an odd time: we want to get out, and yet many are unsure about safety. I was contemplative last night and made this Facebook Live video as a cheer up/check in moment. I think it's important at this juncture to feel your feelings and to keep doing the things that bring you comfort. I wish you all the best!

At the start of quarantine, I promised you I would highlight local arts groups during this no-live-events time...ones whose events I would normally PICK for my blog Herewith is my " (Almost) Daily Dose ARTS PICKS " round-up from last week (May 11-15). Click on each logo or image below for my write-ups.  Enjoy!

I'll continue sending my email with the round-ups, or you can see them online Monday-Friday  here  and all the past editions here. I've featured FORTY organizations to date! I'll be adjusting this blog to continue informing you while helping the arts groups spread the word. Eventually I will go back to my format of writing about 3 ADULT PICKS and 3 KID PICKS each weekend. I look forward to browsing through hundreds of live events again!

Museums are allowed to re-open, but not all in Houston are. The Art Car Museum is open by appointment; the Houston Museum of Natural Science opened last Friday (I went there to check it out -- it's a great time to go!); and the 1940 Air Terminal Museum is open on the weekends. The Holocaust Museum Houston and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston are opening soon (May 26 and May 23). All public spaces are practicing CDC protocols, including enforcing limited capacity. Check websites before you go!

A SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO PARENTS: I know you are planning summer now, so be sure to check out my CAMP PICKS blogs here and the most recent one here. I've got the scoop on the best camps and whether they are live and/or virtual.

Our city and our world will recover from the virus!  In the meantime: stay healthy and enjoy the arts & culture however you can.

Sincerely,

Sarah Gish

P.S. If you want to IGNITE YOUR LIFE now or anytime, check out my list of "12 Ways to Ignite Your Life Daily" -- and watch the 12 videos I recently made about each Way  here. I'm very proud of that list and my work and I hope it will help you live a better life. Meditation, taking care of yourself, enjoying life, and laughing -- plus more! -- is what will get us through this global pandemic.
