School re-opening plans have leapt to the headlines, with an eye toward distanced, remote, and hybrid offerings. The August 14 deadline for all local Maryland school systems to send their reopening plans to the Maryland State Department of Education is quickly approaching. Local boards of education have been releasing information on plans for the 2020-2021 school year. While a number of counties have yet to make a formal announcement, some have announced hybrid plans that allow for alternating classroom days, while others have opted for fully virtual fall semesters. Conduit Street has your latest coverage on this issue as it continues to break.

Corporate Partner Corner

MACo's Gold Corporate Partner, BGE , continues their commitment to Maryland's counties by installing six new electric vehicle charging stations on Harford County Government property, at no cost to the county.

Now that Harford County residents are out driving more, drivers of electric vehicles are reminded they can use any of the six new electric vehicle charging stations –two in Bel Air and four in Fallston –installed earlier this year on Harford County government properties.

At no cost to the county, BGE installed the stations earlier this year to provide electric vehicle drivers with 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week access to them. The six stations on Harford County properties are part of Exelon’s EVsmart charging network among Maryland utilities, including BGE, Pepco and Delmarva Power. BGE owns, services and monitors the stations.

“We’re proud to join the network of charging stations for EV drivers in Harford County and support clean energy solutions to protect our environment,” County Executive Barry Glassman said.
