The Downtown Project will focus on upgrading the infrastructure – below and above ground – in the Downtown area. The project’s goals are to repave the roadways, repair the sanitary sewer system, make drainage improvements, and upgrade pedestrian curb ramps. The project began in April and is estimated to finish in September 2020.

What happened last week
The City’s contractor, K.J. Woods, conducted sewer line work and sewer lateral work on Corte Madera Ave., Throckmorton Ave. and Gardner St.

What is happening this week
K.J. Woods conducted the following:

Corte Madera Ave., West Blithedale Ave., and Gardner St.: Sewer line and sewer lateral work.
o Corte Madera Ave. underground work is completed up to Gardner St.
o Lovell Ave. underground work is completed.
o Gardner St. will be completed by the beginning of next week

Throckmorton Ave.: Pipe bursting work is complete from West Blithedale Ave. to Corte Madera Ave. Work from Corte Madera Ave. on Throckmorton Ave. is schedule soon. Sewer line work, and construction of a sanitary sewer manhole for Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) work.


What is happening in the upcoming weeks? *
K.J. Woods will conduct the following:

  • Corte Madera Ave.: Closed-circuit TV inspection and sewer line work, which is estimated to continue to May 12.
  • Throckmorton Ave.: Sewer line work is estimated to take place the week of May 18.
  • West Blithedale Ave.: Potholing activities to obtain visual confirmation of utilities and underground obstructions near or crossing the planned trench area. Sewer line and sewer lateral work.
  • Gardner St.: Closed-circuit TV inspection for CIPP work, which is estimated to take place the week of May 11 and May 18.

* All estimated timelines are tentative and subject to change.
STAY OUT OF THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE!
As the weather gets nicer and more people are walking around Downtown, we have noticed more people not paying attention and walking into the construction zone. Please heed all signs and pedestrian detours and stay out of the construction zone!
