Travel Update
Travel restrictions for travel within the United States ended March 4 for our staff and families. For any cases of international travel, we are continuing to follow the CDC guidelines, which can be found in this link:
At the start, travel restrictions were put in place partly because of the situations in other states, when some were in worse shape than others. They were also put in place because of the habits of travel. In other words, when travelling, you are at more places (restaurants, gas stations, airports, etc.), and encounter more people, leading to more potential risk.
So, we encourage you to keep in mind that we are still in a pandemic. Risks still exist and we do not want to jeopardize our communities. That commitment is what has made us so successful throughout the school year. Families that travel are expected to practice social distancing, handwashing, and mask wearing in order to continue to keep our communities healthy.
Quarantine
IF A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER OF A STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS WAITING FOR RESULTS, THE STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE MUST QUARANTINE AND MAY NOT COME TO SCHOOL UNTIL THE RESULTS ARE KNOWN AND THE SCHOOL NURSE HAS GRANTED PERMISSION TO RETURN.
When informed an immediate household member has been tested, the student or staff who resides in the same home will quarantine until the result of the test is confirmed negative. If the result of the immediate household member's test is positive, the student or staff member who resides in the same home will quarantine for 10 days.
Students or staff who may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days, even if the student or staff tests negative or feels healthy since symptoms may appear 2 to 10 days after exposure to the virus. Please see the latest criteria from the Centers for Disease Control on "exposure" and "quarantine."
Please be reminded, if a student tests positive for COVID-19, families are obligated to inform the school for the health and safety of the entire school community. This applies even when we are not in person or in session.
Any student or staff member who is required to quarantine must notify the following:

The values installed through a York Catholic education are timeless as our students learn compassion and service towards others, all while becoming their best selves. It is our hope that you will continue to support our students in their journey. Through the York Catholic Fund, we welcome unrestricted gifts, which are critically important as they address the financial gap between tuition dollars and the actual cost per student. Additionally, unrestricted gifts provide operating budget support, tuition assistance, and extracurricular support. Every gift, whatever the amount, is greatly valued by York Catholic!

Capital Campaign Phase II
|
|
Phase II of the Grow Today, Impact Tomorrow Capital Campaign is going strong! With $3.2 million pledged, we are closing in on our $4.5 million goal. To raise the remaining funds, which will be used to complete the Junior High conversion, infrastructure improvements, installation of a new press box and stadium bleachers, relocation of the grotto, creation of a Rosary Walk, and upgrades to our parking lot, we need the support of our alumni, parents, and community!
There are many ways you can give to the campaign including a one-time gift or through a pledge over multiple years. There is also the opportunity for several naming opportunities, detailed below, offered to recognize the generosity of donors. As always, we thank you for the support that you continue to show York Catholic each and every day.
Rosary Walk
Donors contributing $5,000+ will be recognized on our Rosary Walk through a Prayer Bead stone. This beautiful new Rosary Walk will be stationed in the relocated Grotto.
Stadium Facilities
Brand new bleachers will be installed at our Athletic Turf Field. Contributions of $1,000 will purchase one bleacher seat* or a bleacher section can be donated for $75,000.
*Please note, the honor of naming the bleacher seat does not guarantee admission to events or reserve the actual seat.

Don't Miss This Tax Break
|
|
Pennsylvania now allows individuals to take advantage of EITC Tax Credits (just as businesses can) whereby you have the opportunity to re-direct 90% of your personal state income taxes to York Catholic High School.
The Special Purpose Entity (SPE) is based on tax liability, not income, therefore each taxpayer’s situation will differ. Participants must be PA residents where at least one spouse is employed or has an ownership interest in a PA for-profit business. An individual or couple filing jointly must have a state tax liability of $3,500 or more to participate. To see if you qualify for 2021, you can find your PA tax liability on Form PA-40 Line 12 of your 2020 tax return. 100% of participant contributions are distributed to the school. You have to pay these taxes regardless, so why not have a say in how your taxes are allocated? Additionally, you will receive at least a 10% personal deduction on your federal taxes. The money you re-direct to York Catholic is for educational purposes, specifically tuition assistance.
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please follow these steps:
The last day to apply for 2021 is December 1, 2021, however, the available funds may run out prior to December, so it's recommended to apply as soon as possible.
For more information about this easy tax donation, please contact Katie Seufert, York Catholic Principal, at kseufert@yorkcatholic.org.

If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.
York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.
You, as parents, are our best ambassadors. In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.
It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!
The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.
Thank you for all you do for our school!

College Visits
One of the best ways to determine if a college is a good fit your son or daughter is to visit the campus for an admissions information session, tour, or open house. An admissions tour usually entails a college student showing a prospective family, through a walk around the campus, the academic buildings, cafeteria and eateries, dormitories and living options, athletic fields, and social gathering areas. Often there is an admission information session to describe the admissions process and to highlight the college so high school students can be prepared to apply for admission if interested. As you can imagine, this opportunity has been somewhat limited due to the Covid-19 restrictions, but more college campuses are opening up for visits with protocols in place.
At York College of PA, high school students can sign up for an informational session and tour each weekday at 10 AM or 1 PM. York also offers special sessions for students interested in engineering or nursing. Their spring open house is April 10 and is a virtual event that will include a student panel, conversation with faculty members, and information on admissions, financial aid, and campus life. Go to this link for visit information: https://www.ycp.edu/admissions/visit-york/information-sessions/
Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, has a variety of visit options which include the following:
Admission Presentations with Campus Tours are available on Mondays, Fridays, and select Saturdays.
Individual Admission Meetings with Group Tours are available on select weekdays.
School of Business Facility Tours and Representative Meetings are available on select Mondays and Fridays.
Natural and Environmental Sciences Accepted Student Sessions are available on select Fridays until April 30.
If you go to the admission pages of any college of interest, you will find the link for the visitation information and can sign up online for any of the available sessions and tours. If you plan to attend a session on a school day, make sure you email or send a note to our Attendance Office at least 2 days in advance to share your college visit plans. Click the button below for the College Visit and Shadowing form to take with you during your campus visit, and return it signed to the Attendance Office on the day following your visit.
Please contact Mrs. Eva Phillips, College & Career Counselor, at ephillips@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x432 if you have any questions.
