Hot Springs Village continues to keep our members informed on the latest information about COVID-19 locally and in the state of Arkansas. Currently, we are continuing to follow Phase 2 Directives from the Arkansas Department of Health.

State of Arkansas  
       
Today, Arkansas Secretary of Health Jose Romero announced that 735 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours in the state. This brings the state's cumulative cases to 47,028.  
 
Of the 47,028 cases, 6,958 are considered active with 71 in nursing homes, 548 in correctional facilities and 6,339 in the community.
 
When it came to today's cases, 44 were detected in correctional facilities and 691 were detected in the community at large. Counties with the highest number of new cases today included Pulaski County with 73 additional cases, Garland County with 24 new cases and Saline County with 21 additional cases.
 
Romero said that 4,514 people were tested for the virus in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 8.6 percent. That brings the total test number for August tests to 27,998.   
 
Hospitalizations decreased by 2 since yesterday, bringing the total currently hospitalized to 514. Of those hospitalized, 111 are on ventilators. 
 
During the briefing, it was announced that flu vaccines would be available starting next month. Arkansans are encouraged to get vaccines to prevent overloading the state's hospitals with flu patients on top of COVID-19 patients.

As of Aug. 6 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 157,631.

Saline & Garland Counties 
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, 975 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County. Of those, 799 have recovered and 170 of the total cases are considered active. The number of deaths in Saline County is six.
 
Garland County currently has 939 cumulative cases of COVID-19. So far, 721 people are considered recovered and 210 cases are considered active. The total number of deaths remains at eight.

  • The F.C.A. Golf Tournament set for Aug. 21 at Magellan Golf Course has been canceled.
  • The Mountainside Craft Fair scheduled for Nov. 7 has been canceled. The next scheduled craft fair is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2021.
