MAY'S DOWNTOWN DIGEST
Get Ready to Enjoy Downtown’s First Rooftop Bar at Mercantile Center
It’s finally happening…Worcester is getting a much-anticipated rooftop bar/restaurant and high-end steak house right in our backyard! No longer a throughway, Downtown has become a destination for visitors and locals alike. The Mercantile Roof Top Bar & Restaurant will be a two-story indoor/outdoor bar and eatery. It is set to open later this summer under the direction of The Broadway Hospitality Group — the same entity responsible for Tavern in the Square. The Mercantile Roof Top Bar & Restaurant will feature a rooftop deck and will boast 500-seats in a state-of-the-art dining area adjacent to Mercantile Center. In addition to The Mercantile Roof Top Bar & Restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House will also open, in the fall of 2022. The upscale dining restaurant will feature 275 seats at 4 Mercantile.

Want to make a lasting impression? Plans for a 65’ by 35’ mural on the facade at 2 Mercantile are also underway. Artists are encouraged to submit their proposals to Franklin Realty Advisors until June 1, 2021. This is your chance to leave your mark Downtown.
Spring Flowers Emerge in Force Downtown
Spring has sprung, and Downtown looks stunning if we do say so ourselves. The transformation is underway at this very moment. We contracted with Perrone Landscaping to mulch many tree pits in our District and Bemis Farms Nursery of Spencer to oversee the installation of more than 125 hanging flower baskets and 3 dozen sidewalk planters, here to stay until September. Beautification is a go for the summer of 2021, which is shaping up to be our most colorful and vibrant season yet!
"Make It!" at Technocopia
On June 26th, Downtown’s makerspace — Technocopia — will host a family-friendly day of demonstrations and free interactive workshops from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Printers Building parking lot located at the corner of Myrtle and Portland Streets. Not only will you be able to enjoy the fun demonstrations, you'll also have the opportunity to take a tour of their unique space on the 6th floor. This community maker festival is made possible by the Mass Cultural Council and will feature modular sculpture, large-scale weaving, screen printing, playful maker challenges, yarn bombing, PPE making, and more. Face masks will be required of all participants. In case of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for June 27th. Advance registration is recommended. Timed tickets for attending the event can be found on Eventbrite.

Starting April 1st, their hours grew to extend from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day of the week, ensuring a warm welcome for visitors from dawn until well past dusk.
