Holy Week Rites and Celebrations - Did you know?

Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday commemorates the Washing of the Feet (Maundy) and Last Supper of Jesus Christ.

Maundy is the first word of the phrase "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos" ("A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.") This statement by Jesus in the Gospel of John 13:34 by which Jesus explained to the Apostles the significance of his action of washing their feet.

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.

The sayings of Jesus on the cross (sometimes called the Seven Last Words from the Cross) are seven expressions attributed to Jesus during his crucifixion.
Traditionally, the brief sayings have been called "words". They are gathered from the four gospels.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation restores relationships with God and each other. Reconciliation is one of the eight sacraments of the Catholic faith and can be done in both a communal or private setting. This rite has been added to the Holy Week service schedule below - with both community and private options on Friday and Saturday.
