This month is National Teacher Appreciation Month. As we've reported, Serra has an incredible group of professional, dedicated and creative teachers.

If you haven't read it, it is worth reading. Similar letters expressing appreciation for our teachers are common.
Here is an excerpt from the latest sent to English teacher, Mr. Cannella:
Mr. Cannella,"....As a parent, I wanted to express my gratitude to you. I really appreciate your candor and guidance with my son. He really loves the Junipero Serra Family. Ever since school has opened up, I've learned that he is social yet introverted at the same time. Thank you for helping him adjust to high school during COVID." Mr. Cannella is on the left.

The March to the 80k Match Continues! |

The ALL HAIL! March to the 80k Match Records continues. To date 78 Alumni, including one from Mt. Carmel, one from St. Mary's, one from Bishop Montgomery and one from Pius X, have donated $45,968 to the 80K ALL HAIL Match! We have $34,032 to reach 80K. little way to go.
Plenty of you have committed to donating, please do it by clicking here.
Remember, May 31 is the deadline.
Unless directed otherwise, donations are directed to Alumni Scholarships/Tuition Assistance. This week we had an Alumnus specify their donation for Athletic Department needs. 5th Annual Cavalier Golf Classic is on July 23rd |

The 5th Annual Cavalier Classic Cavalier Classic
Serra's 5th Annual Cavalier Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 23rd at Serra's home course, Chester Washington. 2.1 miles driveway to driveway.

When you retired, did you say to yourself, "I have time on my hands, I need to find something where I can contribute my time and endless knowledge to"? Or if you are closer to your graduation than the year you will retire, how about becoming one of those alumni who worked behind the scenes, helping to insure your 4 years at Serra were incredible!
After nearly 14 months of quarantine, the Alumni Association will be finally be able to meet again as a group. The meeting begins at 6:30PM May 19, in Room 405. It's the room next to the south parking lot at the corner of Marine and Van Ness.

1. Megan, what year did you graduate from Serra? 2010
2. What is your current profession? I’m an employment tax consultant.
3. How did playing basketball Serra have an impact on your life today? Basketball was a sweet escape and outlet I never knew I needed. It allowed me to develop lifelong friendships with my teammates and it taught me an authentic lesson about hard work and perseverance.
4. What was that one memorable game that still sticks with you today?
Hitting a buzzer-beater to end the game is always an amazing feeling. It was a game when we were playing in the LA city tournament and I remember hitting a buzz-beater 3 pointer and we either won the game or went to OT to win. Ultimately, we won the city title and that is how we earned a banner at Normandie Recreation Center.
5. With season beginning at different time, what advice would you give the young ladies so they can have successful season despite the adversity?
I would say to always play your heart out and leave everything out there on the floor. Never shy away from big moments and remain fearless. Set a personal goal for yourself and challenge yourself and your teammates to really step into the role of greatness and shine. Always make a cognizant effort to learn and growth in everything you do. Stay focused, always channel your inner Mamba Mentality and make your free throws and lay-ups.
