The Heart of Virginia Council is looking for anyone at least 21-years of age or older to volunteer their time to assist in the lawn care of our Scout Reservations. The schedule will be flexible to fit your free time and training will be offered to interested individuals. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up and express which location you would be interested in working on.

In observance of Memorial Day the Heart of Virginia Council Leadership Center and Scout Shop will be closed Saturday, May 29th and Monday. May 31st. HOVC thanks all those who have served in the military and we wish that every soldier that has lost their lives in the battle for freedom is remembered for their bravery.

A Zoom orientation will be held on June 19th for all first-year campers and parents. Be sure to register, so that any anxieties can be relieved. Just a few of the questions that will be answered include: Where am I going to sleep? Where do I eat? What is there to do during the day? What should I bring to camp? What should I leave at home? That is just a taste of all the information you will receive, Registration closes on June 11th and links will be sent out a week prior to the orientation.

The Order of the Arrow will be hosting its Induction Weekend June 4th-6th at Camp T. Brady Saunders. Everyone is expected to bring a filled water bottle, a face mask, and work gloves, along with a completed medical form (parts A&B). Registration for the weekend will close on Sunday, May 30th.

This year UP3 will be a COUNCIL-WIDE event to be held on June 12th at the new Heart of Virginia Council Leadership Center. To satisfy social distancing guidelines, participants are asked to register for a time slot between 9 AM and 12 Noon in 15-minute increments. There will be maximum of 25 people in each time slot. The entire experience should take about an hour. Registration is open!

The Tournament of Eagles golf benefit will be held on Monday, June 21st, at the Country Club of Virginia. Enjoy a day of competitive golfing and networking while supporting local Scouting programs.

Hampden-Sydney College is hosting a Merit Badge College Day on Saturday, June 12, open to all Scouts BSA Troops in the Heart of Virginia Council. Three new merit badges have been added to the lineup so be sure to register soon before they are all full. The new badges include Theater, Chemistry and Citizenship in the World/Nation.
