Global Learning Opportunities through Balanced Education
GLOBE WEEKLY NEWS
HEY
GLOBE
COMMUNITY
This is the best resource for staying in the know.
Dear GLOBE Community,
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
The COVID Corner
As we prepare guidance to inform a safe return, we want to hear from you and address your questions in this section each week. If you have questions that have not been addressed, please submit them here.Thank you to those of you who have already submitted your questions! We are doing our best to answer as many of these as we can each week. If you haven’t seen a response to your question yet, stay tuned for upcoming newsletters! We will do our best to provide as many answers as we can in The COVID Corner over the coming weeks. Please understand that due to the dynamic nature of the pandemic, there may be questions for which we do not yet have answers, or situations that may change between now and January.
While we are closely following DeKalb County School District’s planning, GLOBE’s plans for a return-to-campus will be based on the recommendations of our independently run reopening committee to meet the needs of our community and academic dual-language immersion model.
Considerations for Small Gatherings of Family and Friends
Celebrating virtually or with members of your own household (who are consistently taking measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19) poses the lowest risk for spread. Your household is anyone who currently lives and shares common spaces in your housing unit (such as your house or apartment). This can include family members, as well as roommates or people who are unrelated to you. People who do not currently live in your housing unit, such as college students who are returning home from school for the holidays, should be considered part of different households. In-person gatherings that bring together family members or friends from different households, including college students returning home, pose varying levels of risk.
Organizers and attendees of larger events should consider the risk of virus spread based on event size (number of attendees and other factors) and take steps to reduce the possibility of infection, as outlined in the Considerations for Events and Gatherings.
Our French Teaching Interns will be joining us in January!
For many of our interns, it is their first time in the United States, and of course, we would like to show them a warm welcome to the United States and to GLOBE!
Reach out to Robyn Brandman if you are interested in hosting a French intern from January - May 2021. We are looking for 5 amazing host families to bring French culture and language into their homes, and also share with our interns our warm GLOBE culture.
