Meet Sparky! Sparky is a six year old shepherd/pit mix. He is a big, goofy boy who loves to play outside and get attention. When you first look at him, you instantly fall in love with him because of his ears that don’t quite know what to do. Sparky doesn’t get along with other dogs or children, so he has to be an only pet in the home with children 16 or older. He doesn’t seem to bark too much, mostly when he wants your attention, food or the other dogs start barking. Sparky loves playing ball, so as long as you have a ball in hand he is a very photogenic boy. Click HERE to see more pictures.

Charlevoix Area Garden Club Presents Awards for Beautification
|
|
Once again this year the CAGC encouraged local businesses to beautify their locations with natural floral plantings. We realized that businesses were coming off of a very tough year and were pleased so many were able to plant natural plantings to add to the beauty of our city. The Club judged three different categories: Businesses with gardens; Businesses with window boxes, pots or urns; and Civic Establishments. A committee judged the plantings on July 19th and awarded certificates to the winners on July 26th. Committee chairs, Audrey Etienne and Shirley Polakowski were appreciative of the efforts put forth by the community.

Consumers Energy Again Named One of America’s Top Companies for Women
Consumers Energy is one of the top 20 best employers for women in the country and No. 1 in Michigan, according to a new ranking from Forbes Magazine. The national recognition reflects Consumers Energy’s long-standing commitment and continued efforts to support diversity, equity and inclusion, Cathy Hendrian, senior vice president of people and culture said.
Consumers Energy ranked No. 1 in the utility sector and was 19th overall in the annual Forbes ranking. The magazine collaborated with market research firm Statista, surveying 50,000 Americans, including 30,000 women, working for businesses that employ more than 1,000 workers. Representation at the executive and board levels were considered, as were initiatives to improve gender equity.
The Jackson-based energy company, which has served Michigan for nearly 135 years, has long supported and empowered the women in its workforce, which includes more than 8,500 full-time employees.
