LONGSTANDING OHIO CHAMBER PRIORITY PASSES OHIO HOUSE
After lengthy negotiations and years of close calls, the Ohio Chamber’s Employment Law Uniformity Act – HB 352 – has passed the Ohio House. In a bi-partisan vote, the House recognized how fixing Ohio’s burdensome and confusing workplace discrimination laws fosters a better business and legal climate in the Buckeye State.

SB 39: ANOTHER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TOOL TO KEEP OHIO'S BUSINESS CLIMATE STRONG
During this past week, Senate Bill 39 (SB 39) emerged from the House Economic and Workforce Development Committee and was reported to the House Rules Committee. Although it has not yet received a floor vote, it is one step closer to passage.

CHAMBER HIGHLIGHTS ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO FIRST RESPONDER PTSD COVERAGE

In front of the Senate General Government and Agency Review Committee, the Ohio Chamber continued our efforts to push back against legislation that would upend over 100 years of precedent by allowing workers’ compensation coverage for mental only conditions.

CHAMBER TESTIFIES IN SUPPORT OF DE MINIMIS OVERTIME LEGISLATION

On November 17 the Ohio Chamber of Commerce gave proponent testimony on Senate Bill 243 (SB 243) – legislation that would ease employers’ administrative burden for tracking an hourly employee’s working hours and provide clear guidance on their obligation to compensate an employee’s unsupervised time.

GOVERNOR DEWINE ANNOUNCES STATEWIDE CURFEW

On November 17, Gov. DeWine announced that a statewide curfew would go into effect on Thursday, Nov. 19 starting at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. and last for 21 days.

THE SENATE BEGINS HEARINGS ON REFORM OF REAL PROPERTY TAX VALUATION PROCESS

House Bill 75 received its second hearing in the Senate Local Government, Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Committee late yesterday afternoon. The Ohio Chamber offered testimony in support of the bill and urged its passage.

HOUSE BILL 13 - SENATE HEARINGS

The Ohio Chamber delivered proponent testimony on House Bill 13 (HB 13) on November 17 in front of the Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee. As the bill is currently written, private companies can submit proposals to the Department of Commerce to address the broadband needs of a specific location.
