Relive your Nostalgic Memories of Ireland ...

With accelerated easing of restrictions here in Ireland, many are now turning their attention to planning a much needed break away. We have all waited patiently to get to this stage, and thus the present moment proves to be the perfect time to explore Ireland. With less tourists, you will have a unique opportunity to rediscover Ireland in a new light and delve deeper into your own heritage. Take time to reconnect with yourself, reconnect with those you love and reconnect with nature. Enjoy the blissful nostalgia of rediscovering a childhood holiday spot, where you may have visited when holidaying in Ireland was the norm; however, this time experience it with your own children or grandchildren. Enjoy making new memories, without the need to travel far.

We all know the top areas to visit within Ireland that tourists flock to year on year, but how many of them have you seen for yourself, or when did you last visit them? This really is the time to tick a few off your list. Tour the ring of Kerry when the windy roads are quiet or feel alive taking in views of the endless expanse of the Atlantic Ocean at the Cliffs of Moher. Beyond the known go-to spots, discover the hidden gems of Ireland that lie just in your backyard. From seafood picnics on a private island off Connemara, a family farm-to-table culinary experience in West Cork, to afternoon tea with the Jameson sisters in Waterford, Adams & Butler holds the key to allowing you to rediscover and reconnect with our Emerald Isle.

With such immense growing interest from Irish people itching to get away, we are sharing our top suggestions for where to go and what to do in Ireland now. The below itinerary focuses on the greater Dublin area, with links to two other itineraries focusing on Kilkenny & Cork and the West of Ireland. These three short itineraries can be combined depending on your time frame and wishes, but we hope that they will offer fresh inspiration for your holiday on the homeland. Adams & Butler will apply our knowledge and expertise of the country to assist you in exploring Ireland further than you ever have before. Allow us to arrange as much of your entire itinerary, to as little as a stay at a world class hotel or exclusive-use rental. We pride ourselves on the solid relationships we have built with Ireland's local suppliers and hotel chains over the past 16 years in business, and we will utilise our contacts to deliver an unparalleled experience and service to you.

All in all, we believe that local travel will not only enrich your perception, understanding, and appreciation of Ireland, but it will also allow you to partake in the country's sustainable "Support Local" movement. Our local suppliers have worked extremely hard to prepare for reopening and to ensure you have no need for concern when travelling within Ireland. They are ready to welcome you with open arms! So, commence your Irish adventure now with Adams & Butler...

Explore the country with purpose, enthusiasm, and a new-found appreciation for the art of travel. Experience your local culture; immerse yourself in its authentic experiences; take back the moment and reconnect with the joyous attitude towards life that many believe us Irish to live by.

Dublin & the Jewels of East Ireland

Day 1

Begin your day with an extraordinary behind-the-scenes know how art tour with our historian of art, who lived for several years in a Japanese Zen monastery studying meditation. Expect a unique combination of art appreciation and mindfulness practices which enhance the viewing experience and ideally bring a moment of rest and expansiveness to a viewer especially in these stressful times.

Do you visit art galleries while on holidays and wish you knew a little more about art? Would you like to know what makes a painting a masterpiece; why is a painting famous; what is this painting really about; what should I look for in a painting? A relaxing tour of Dublin's two main galleries: The National Gallery of Ireland - home of the world-famous Caravaggio painting, The Taking of Christ and the Dublin City Hugh Lane Gallery - where you have a unique opportunity to view Francis Bacon's entire Studio, you can do all this with Adams & Butler. A&B believes art should be accessible, demystified and that everyone can be their own expert. Expect not just a gallery tour, but also a fascinating discovery of the joys of art and an insight into the hidden secrets behind different art movements, including modern art. All will be explained using examples throughout the extensive painting collections in these two galleries. You will leave with enhanced skills on how to get the most enjoyment from any future visit to any gallery in the world.

After lunch enjoy a Connoisseur Experience and Guinness Academy at the Guinness Storehouse.

If you are a Guinness fan but the crowds of tourists stopped you from visiting the Storehouse; here is your chance... a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the rich heritage of this iconic brand and discover why Guinness is truly "MADE OF MORE". ... In a luxurious private bar, discretely tucked away in a secluded area of the Guinness Storehouse, we will take you on a journey through the tastes, traditions and stories of the most popular variants of the "black stuff"- Guinness Draught, Guinness Original, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, and one of the beers from The Brewers Project range.

Day 2

Start your day with a hands-on cookery experience learning how to make barmbrack with an Irish celebrity chef. Gain an insight into this family's story, their close connection with authentic Wicklow food and the secrets of the regional cooking. Learn their secret family recipe of barmbrack - one of the oldest Irish cakes, traditionally made at Halloween, where it is said that this is a magical cake that tells your future. The state-of-the-art, award winning cookery school is nestled between lush herb, vegetable and soft fruit gardens.

Imagine HopKnut Pale Ale served with Indian curry and Wicklow Weiss served with Mussels cooked in a Thai spiced Wicklow Weiss sauce... ? During your lunch you will enjoy a beer tasting, where the beer samples will match 5 small food courses.

Would you like to feel like a movie star? In the afternoon visit one of Leinster's hidden treasures and a shooting location for both movies and TV series, including My Left Foot, Far & Away, Excalibur, The Tudors, Angela's Ashes, Camelot, Becoming Jane, Ella Enchanted, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Turning. We will take you on a tour of this privately-owned family estate in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. This private tour will be led by a Brabazon family member who shares intimate insights into the Elizabethan-style house that first became the home of the Brabazons in 1618.

Afterwards, relax and connect with nature in the garden while hearing about the heritage and horticulture of this 850-acre estate, its working farm and protected biodiversity. Smell, taste, forage and chat while gathering salads and herbs to be ultimately enjoyed with sausages prepared by the house chef.

Day 3

Drive to the Boyne Valley in County Meath this morning and start the day with a Slane Distillery and Castle Tour. Slane Distillery is a working distillery in the original stables of Slane Castle built in the 1750s and where Slane Irish Whiskey is produced. You will be taken on a journey from grain to glass, with your tour ending with a tasting of their Slane Irish Whiskey. At Slane Castle you will start your tour by hearing about the history of the Castle as narrated by the owner, 8th Marquess Conyngham Lord Henry Mount Charles. It is a personal journey through the decades taking in the castle history, including the rock concerts held there.

With time for lunch, enjoy the opportunity to meet artisan food producers on their farms and in their workplaces to understand what living on and from the land means to them. Visit a cheesemaking facility where you will see their maturation room and goat sheds where you will meet the 400 goats who produce the milk used to make award winning cheeses. End your tour with tastings of their Bán (plain white) and blue cheeses. You will also meet a cider maker of Ireland's only keeved cider; a cold-pressed oil producer and pioneering organic farmer.

Finish the day with an amazing Gin Making Experience. Choose your own recipe, with as many botanicals and spices as you like. When the pot-stills are set and you are waiting for your gin to distil, enjoy some G&Ts, along with a spread of local meats and cheeses from the Boyne Valley. Once the Gin has been collected in glass beakers, it will be blended down to the preferred alcohol percentage, bottled and sealed for you to take home.

Overnight at Tankardstown House
