Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said that Arkansas has received 100 antigen testing machines. He said there are also 100 more are on order. These tests will be assigned to public health units with a quick turnaround for K-12 schools.
Over the weekend, 1,299 more cases of COVID-19 were found in Arkansas. Today, Hutchinson announced that 787 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours in the state. This brings the state's cumulative cases to 44,597.
Of the 44,597 cases, 6,882 are considered active with 80 in nursing homes, 392 in correctional facilities and 6,408 in the community.
When it came to today's cases, 6 were detected in correctional facilities and 781 were detected in the community at large. Counties with the highest number of new cases today included Pulaski County with 54 additional cases and Garland County with 29 new cases.
Hutchinson said that the state missed its 200,000 goal in testing for the virus in July. A total of 194,836 people were tested in July. This month, the goal is 190,000 as far as virus testing and 10,000 as far as antigen testing.
There are currently 513 people hospitalized due to the virus in Arkansas. Of those hospitalized, 108 are on ventilators.
On Saturday, there were five deaths due to the virus in the state. On Sunday there were six deaths. Today, there were 11 more deaths in the state reported by Hutchinson, bringing the total to 475.

As of Aug. 3 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 154,471.
Saline & Garland Counties
As of 2:30 p.m. Monday, 892 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County. Of those, 729 have recovered and 158 of the total cases are considered active. The number of deaths has increased by one, making the number for Saline County five.
Garland County currently has 875 cumulative cases of COVID-19. So far, 640 people are considered recovered and 227 cases are considered active. The total number of deaths has increased by one for eight total.
