Regarding the Permission to Live Stream the Mass
The suspension of the public celebration of Mass has resulted in many parishes choosing to engage their congregations over the internet with Zoom meetings, Facebook live streaming, and You Tube postings. Many have shared how this has been a great way to stay connected to the parish.

In early March, One License LLC , an umbrella company representing over 100 Member Music Publishers , allowed parishes throughout the United States to broadcast for free music of church composers whose works are held under their umbrella licensing. This gratis license has helped churches across the USA to stream the Mass on the internet without concern for the legal/ethical ramifications of broadcasting copywritten material. However, the gift of streaming music for free ended on April 15th.

So, parishes currently live streaming and/or posting pre-recorded Sunday Mass should make sure they have the appropriate license to do so.

One License has launched a new Limited Podcast/Streaming License , that is affordable and will allow for the ease of conscience. While One License does not include every artist and every publisher, it does include the major Catholic music publishers: OCP, GIA and World Library Publications (WLP). Parishes that use more contemporary Christian praise music may need to purchase a separate license from a company called Contemporary Christian Licensing International (CCLI). You can check their list of participating publishers and composers at their website.
