Amen.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends, and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help. As we close September the counseling department would like to highlight some resources available:

  • New Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (dial 988 or visit 988lifeline.org) – provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress and prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones
  • You can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.
  • Counselors are available:

o   Heather Nobary (A-Con 9-12) - HRNobary@charlottecatholic.com

o   Christine Parks (Coo-Ga 12) (Coo-G 9-11)- CLParks@charlottecatholic.com

o   MaryAngela Morgan (Ge-Le 12) (H-K 9-11) - MCmorgan@charlottecatholic.com

o   Jen Murlless (Li-O 12) (L-O 9-11) - JMMurlless@charlottecatholic.com

o   Sandy Needham (P - Sh 9-12) – SMNeedham@charlottecatholic.com

o   Melody Hager (Si - Z 9-12) – MEHager@charlottecatholic.com

  • Campus Ministry, CCHS Chaplains, Faculty and Administration can all help students access resources
  • Freshmen Suicide Prevention Program: Nikki Warren (parent, teacher, and volunteer for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) will speak to all freshmen students about suicide awareness and prevention (this year it will occur on November 8).
