On May 25, 2021 at approximately 10:59 a.m., Calhoun County deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on Michigan Avenue and 22 1/2 Mile Road in Marengo Township. The driver of one of the vehicles was a 33-year-old male and Battle Creek resident. He sustained critical injuries and succumbed to his injuries while on scene. The name of this individual is being withheld at this time for family notification. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
The Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division is investigating the accident with assistance on accident reconstruction from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Other agencies assisting were Marshall Area Firefighters Ambulance Authority, Marengo Township Fire Department, AirCare and Calhoun County Road Department. Michigan Avenue was closed temporarily for the investigation but is now reopened.
