COVID-19 Update

Marquette Announces Return to Campus, Changes to Expect for Fall Semester
In-Person Learning to Resume Monday, August 24th with Updated Guidelines
We'll be welcoming students and staff back to campus with open arms this fall. But social distancing will require us to take a raincheck on any embrace.

Marquette Catholic High School will resume in-person learning on Monday, August 24th - as originally planned - for the first official day of classes. Orientation for freshmen and new students will take place Friday, August 21st. Many of our procedures and practices have changed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the ever-changing nature of this situation, it's critical to emphasize that the following information is subject to change. With each change, communication will be made to our students, families, staff, and community. Any changes that occur over the summer will be shared prior to the return of school. All changes are based around the most up-to-date guidance provided by the Indiana Department of Education's IN-CLASS document for schools' return, as well as Diocesan and local guidelines.

Our 1:1 Apple technology program affords students the opportunity to learn without the exchanging of materials or papers. Furthermore, our smaller class sizes enable us to practice reasonable social distancing. We have invested in additional, new, industrial-sanitizing equipment that our custodial staff will use to clean surfaces, entryways, door handles, and fingerprint readers frequently throughout the day.

A comprehensive list of the changes to expect can be found at the link on the bottom of this correspondence as well as on the COVID-19 page on our website. Several of the main changes include required face coverings during passing periods and while on school-provided transportation, assigned seating during classes, the postponement of off-campus field trips and service retreats, and the usage of main building doors as entrance or exit-only.

Students will report to their first hour class immediately upon arrival at school. The Scholl Center Commons will have seating options to suit responsible social distancing during lunch while pre-packaged items only will be sold at the Snack Shack and deli. Locker room, weight room, and gym access will be granted only to those student-athletes in season. Every room and office at the school will have a sanitizing station.

Marquette students and staff are expected to self-screen. Students or employees experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are strictly prohibited from coming to school. Any student or employee ignoring this request will be sent home immediately. Students and staff on campus will need to purchase Marquette face coverings through City Stitches or in the main office.

Please familiarize yourself with the full list of changes on our COVID-19 page. We appreciate your assistance in nurturing a safe and healthy environment for all stakeholders, and we are so excited to welcome our students and staff back to campus this fall.
