UMS Community,
Last week I let you know that you have an important final opportunity to help shape unified accreditation for the University of Maine System. We posted our draft Substantive Change application online with a survey tool that you can use to provide comments that our drafting teams will consider incorporating in the final draft, which will be submitted to the New England Commission of Higher Education at the end of this month.

The review and comment period is open to you through Sunday, May 10. I hope you will visit our Unified Accreditation Substantive Change webpage before then and provide your constructive comments.

Once you're on the Unified Accreditation site, you can see again the Guiding Principles that we are following to obtain unified accreditation. From the beginning of this process, through more than 50 meetings with our university communities from last fall through this winter, I pledged that we would preserve our universities where they are even as we begin to share more resources together across the state.

I want to hear from you again, one final time, what you think is most important for us to show to NECHE about how our universities will work together to comply with the Standards for Accreditation.

Thank you in advance for your input. Together we'll use unified accreditation to improve our universities in their service to our students and the State of Maine.

With sincere thanks,
