TBC Congregational Meeting This Thursday, May 27, 2021, 7:30 pm
At Temple B'nai Chaim, there are two Congregational meetings each year, held in November and May. This is your opportunity to hear what's going on, vote on important issues, ask questions and get to know one another.
Please come participate in our community! A quorum of member families is required to conduct TBC business. Attendance will be taken on Zoom.

Navigating Antisemitism on Social Media: Strategies for College and High School Students
Thursday, May 27th, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm
The ADL Northeast invites you to join in a discussion of the proliferation of online antisemitism and how you can address and respond to harmful content.
- Examine how our widely shared digital spaces can spread misinformation and sow division.
- Learn the tools and skills to respond effectively.
- Explore how ideas that spread online may incite violence.
Speakers will be Dr. Rachel Fish, Scholar of Israeli History, Zionist Thought, and Middle Eastern Studies and Dave Sifry, ADL Vice President of the Center for Technology and Society. Moderated by Scott Richman, ADL New York/New Jersey Regional Director. More information available here.

In-person Family Service in TBC Courtyard!

Please join Cantor Harriet at 6:30 pm for our first in-person Family Shabbat Service in our beautiful courtyard! A fun, participatory family-friendly Shabbat service with prayers, liturgy and music put together especially with children ages 7-17 in mind, and suitable for all! Please feel free to invite friends.

TBC Book Club

The TBC Book Group will be discussing "Roads Taken: The Great Jewish Migrations to the New World and the Peddlers Who Forged the Way" by Hasia R. Diner. Ms. Diner tells the story of millions of discontented young Jewish men who sought opportunity abroad, leaving parents, wives, and sweethearts behind. Wherever they went, they learned unfamiliar languages and customs, endured loneliness, battled the elements, and proffered goods from the metropolis to people of the hinterlands. In the Irish Midlands, the Adirondacks of New York, the mining camps of New South Wales, and so many other places, these traveling men brought change—to themselves and the families who later followed, to the women whose homes and communities they entered, and ultimately to the geography of Jewish history. B'haalot'cha
When You Raise [the Lamps]
Numbers 8:1−12:16
- God speaks to Moses, describing the menorah for the Tent of Meeting. The Levites are appointed to serve as assistants under Aaron and his sons. (8:1-26)
- Those who are unable to celebrate Passover during Nisan are given a time in the month of Sivan to observe a "second Passover." (9:1-14)
- A cloud by day and fire by night show God's Presence over the Tabernacle. When the cloud lifts from the Tabernacle, the people leave Sinai, setting out on their journey, tribe by tribe. (9:15-10:36)
- The Israelites complain about the lack of meat, and Moses becomes frustrated. God tells him to appoint a council of elders. God provides the people with meat and then strikes them with a very severe plague. (11:1-34)

Miriam and Aaron talk about the "Cushite woman" whom Moses has married. In addition, they complain that God speaks not only through Moses but also through them. Miriam is struck with leprosy, and Moses begs God to heal her. After her recovery, the people resume their journey. (12:1-16) Click here to learn more

Dorothy Day Hospitality House -
June 2, 2:00 pm
TBC now staffs the Dorothy Day Hospitality House (aka Danbury Soup Kitchen) the first Wednesday of each month. We provide about 80 meals each afternoon with COVID precautions followed. Everyone who comes to the door is welcomed with no questions asked. All work at Dorothy House is done by volunteers — there is no paid staff. At this time, we need about 4 people to take care of each day.
Dorothy Day Hospitality House is based on the Houses of Hospitality founded by Dorothy Day during the Great Depression. It is not formally affiliated with any religious organization, and people of all faiths participate in their work. Contact: Peggy Zamore at peggyz18@gmail.com

Mi Shebeirach Card - This card contains a message of caring and support for someone struggling with illness or other challenges. $18 each, with the donation going to the Kesher/Caring Fund.
