Jiandie Lin, PhD, Receives the ADA 2020 Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award
Congratulations to Jiandie Lin, PhD, recipient of the American Diabetes Association's 2020 Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award. This award recognizes research in diabetes that demonstrates particular independence of thought and originality. Dr. Lin has contributed to the understanding of inter-organ crosstalk of emerging endocrine hormones and has performed pioneering work in chromatin control of metabolic gene programs.

MDiabetes COVID-19 and Metabolic Disease Grant Program
Application Due Date: Rolling, beginning April 6, 2020
Funding: Rolling
To understand and begin to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on those with diabetes and related disorders, MDiabetes and its partner centers (the Michigan Diabetes Research Center (MDRC), the Michigan Center for Diabetes Translational Research (MCDTR), and the Michigan Nutrition and Obesity Research Center (MNORC)) request applications to address the impact of COVID-19 on and improve the care of those with diabetes and related disorders. These applications can address issues with COVID-19 patients or issues with non-infected individuals who are impacted by the disruption to healthcare delivery and life in general.

Center Spotlight: Michigan Center for Diabetes Translational Research (MCDTR)
This month we're highlighting the Michigan Center for Diabetes Translational Research (MCDTR). The MCDTR is part of a network of center and partner institutions and programs dedicated to diabetes type II translation research and its complications. The MCDTR works to facilitate innovative adaptations of evidence-based approaches to prevent and treat diabetes that can be disseminated and sustained in clinical practice and in settings outside the traditional academic research environment.
