Greetings!
After waiting to travel for more than a year, I have been in Tanzania for seven weeks.
It is wonderful to be here. I am so grateful for the good vaccine development, allowing us all to feel safer.
I arrived in the middle of the rainy period that has just ended. We all hope that it rained enough for the corn to make it to harvest. In anticipation, corn prices are low and the people are doing okay.
I notice more folks like me, wazungu, in the city and restaurants. Tourism hasn’t really restarted. Our friend who runs the store where we buy solar equipment told us that the hotels and travel companies are buying again, as they expect people to be returning soon--that's good news.
The wildlife hasn’t gone anywhere, and the wonder of the huge wildebeest herds and the groups of hyenas and lions living in the great parks are still amazing to see.
So, life goes on for the people and the animals and the forests and the plains. Let’s all try to stay healthy and keep going. Soon I'll be returning to the U.S. and look forward to being in touch.
Warmest regards,
