Around Menlo Park
Caltrain Begins Railroad Crossing Improvement Projects in Menlo Park
Caltrain, in cooperation with our city partners, will begin a project to improve the safety at 5 at-grade crossings (intersections where train tracks cross a street) in San Mateo and Menlo Park. These improvements will increase the safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.

In limited locations, installation of the median and flexible bollards will permanently alter driveway access. Grade crossing improvement sites in Menlo Park include:
  • Glenwood Ave. and Garwood Way, Menlo Park
  • Oak Grove Ave. and Merrill St, Menlo Park

Median installation efforts began on May 6 at the intersection of Glenwood Ave. and Garwood Way and median installation at the intersection of Oak Grove and Merrill Street will begin as early as May 17. Flaggers will be in place to help re-route traffic safely. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm.

Caltrain Considers Fare Changes as Part of Pandemic Recovery
Caltrain will host a public hearing later this month to gather feedback on potential changes to its fare structure as the rail agency continues to work on recovery plans as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Caltrain is seeking public comment on a proposed extension of the 20% discount on the Monthly Pass fare product through June 30, 2023. In March, the discount was approved only through September 2021. The agency is providing this discount to encourage people returning to work to take advantage of transit, while also providing some financial relief for those that have been riding regularly throughout the pandemic.
