The Virtue of Patience
DEFINITION OF PATIENCE:
Bearing present difficulties calmly
(Catholic Formation) for Worksheets
FEATURED SCRIPTURE:
Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and the late rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
James 5:7-8

Alphonsus was a young lawyer in Italy when he realized that there were not enough priests to preach to the poor. He became a priest and started an order to preach in poor cities and villages. He was very good at helping people with difficult decisions. He was a patient listener and wrote a book to help priests be good confessors and spiritual guides. Alphonsus suffered through many struggles. Heretics tried to mislead the people he was teaching, and even the priests in his order turned against him and forced him to resign. He never complained and was admired for his gentleness and patience.

LUNCH OPTIONS
Breads & Spreads
|
|
JUST ANNOUNCED!
We are now allowing lunch delivery from outside vendors! Breads and Spreads will, of course, continue as usual and be available throughout the year. Lunches may be delivered or dropped off by the parent to the main office.
This will also include birthday treats! Birthday treats may be ordered from an outside vendor or homemade. Soul Flours will continue to be an option for treats and can be arranged by contacting Breads and Spreads. We ask that you continue to follow the classroom birthday policy which can be found on the RPA website or in the Parent-Student Handbook. "Birthdays will be celebrated once a month, preferably on the first Friday of each month." Room moms will help coordinate the birthday celebrations with the classroom teachers. Please remember, all treats that will be shared with the class will need to be individually wrapped.
More importantly, please remember to follow the "Nut Restrictive Policy*
*PEANUT / TREE NUT AWARE/RESTRICTED CAMPUS Food allergies can be life-threatening. Royal Palm Academy is committed to offering safe educational environments for all students including students with food allergies. A cooperative effort between students, parents, physicians, and school staff members can help minimize risks. Royal Palm Academy is a Peanut / Tree Nut Aware school because of the sensitivity that some children present toward those foods. Depending on the severity of allergy any student may have, we will work in collaboration with the family and the pediatric allergist to implement precautions and procedures to protect the child. Royal Palm has two general categories that currently are used to a building’s nut handling level, these include: Lower Exposure Risk: Nut Awareness level (i.e. a nut-free table in the eating area, or a nut-free classrooms/buildings if necessary, extra hand-washing) Higher Exposure Risk: Nut Restricted level (i.e. attempt to restrict access of all nuts into the classroom/building at all times)

Fr. Paul said Mass this past week
for our RPA Community
|
|
Father Paul D'Angelo, St. John the Evangelist, explains to us that the best "shortcut" to get to heaven is through the Blessed Virgin Mary. "The surest, safest, best way to get to Heaven is through Mary." He tells us of the old motto, "To Jesus through Mary." She will always lead us to Him.
Mary was closest to Jesus in the manger at His birth; Mary was the closest to Jesus at his death on the cross, and she is closest to Him now in Heaven. Fr. Paul compares Mary to every good mother in that she anticipates our worries and anxieties. She is waiting for us to pray to her.
He also talks about the great theologian, Saint Alphonsus Liguori (1696-1787, Naples, Italy). Saint Alphonsus said if we combine all the love that husbands have for their wives and all the love that mothers have for their children, it still will not compare to the great love Mary has for each one of us.
Father Paul asks us to say three Hail Mary prayers every day. (Pope St. Pius X gave his Apostolic Blessing to this practice and the devotion was raised to an Archconfraternity by Pope Benedict XV.)

“O Lady of Good Health,
our Merciful Father chose you to be a powerful intercessor in times of trouble and woe.
As in past centuries when you have ended contagious diseases, we implore you now to end the Coronavirus which is damaging the health of many and spreading fear in our communities.
Teach us not to be afraid, to be courageous and generous in offering assistance to others, and to live joyfully in the state of grace.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
