We are coping. Social distancing, masks and gloves! We are learning ways to stay safe and very, very slowly, we are beginning to venture out. A haircut and a manicure, even a trip to the Dentist seems to be a decadent treat. But Residents at BallenIsles have been extremely fortunate. The Club and Homeowner's Association have been concerned, informative,and supportive throughout these traumatic weeks and long walks, good weather and spring flowers have helped to brighten our days.
We reprint last year's feature on Pickleball along with an article and update by John Nicola. It's easy to learn at any age, fast, fun and extremely social. The good news is that under new strict guidelines you can play singles on half court. Give it a try.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport played with a whiffle ball on a badminton-sized court and a tennis-style net. A non-volley zone (or kitchen) prevents volleys close to the net, and the serving team cannot volley the return of serve (two bounce rule) which decreases the importance of the serve and extends the length of rallies and the fun. These unique rules favor players with less mobility and allow senior players to compete successfully with younger competitors; there is an abundance of both. The game is enjoyed by people of all ages and athletic abilities because it is easy to learn and fun to play. The sport requires inexpensive equipment, is social and healthy, and has been widely accepted in country clubs, school gyms, fire stations, community centers, local parks, athletic clubs and thousands of backyard sports courts.
Pickle ball courts are easy to maintain and in recent years the sport has exploded in popularity, and thousands of pickleball courts have, and are, being built.
Update
You have heard that pickleball, tennis and golf are reinstated, with restrictions.
Racquet sports are to be 'singles only', so with pickleball you can play skinny singles, which is one-on-one on

The data from April show considerable declines from previous years. But we do believe that the demand for Palm Beach Real Estate and BallenIsles will be even greater as the market recovers.
