BCLSD Hosts the 7th Annual

Fairfield County Professional Development Day

On Monday, September 26th, the BCLSD hosted the 7th Annual Fairfield County Professional Development Day with over 575 educators from Fairfield County in attendance.

Staff members from Berne Union, Bloom-Carroll, Fairfield Union, Liberty Union-Thurston, and Walnut Township all joined together for a day of professional learning and collaboration to share best practices and instructional strategies.

Over 65 sessions were available for educators to select from and customize their day of professional learning.

The theme for this year's event was "What's Your Spark?" Keynote speaker Dwight Carter, Director of Student Support Services at Eastland-Fairfield Career Center, inspired teachers to stay curious, learn something new each day, and to celebrate the success of people working together to accomplish a common goal.

Homecoming Spirit Week Kicks Off Monday, October 3rd

It's that time of year! Homecoming Spirit Week kicks off on Monday, October 3rd at Bloom-Carroll High School.

The line-up of activities for Spirit Week includes the following:

Monday - Throwback Day
Tuesday - Surfer vs. Biker Day
Wednesday - Neck Tie vs. Tie-Dye Day
Thursday - Dress-Like-Your-Hallway Day
Friday - Class Color Day & Class Olympics

The Homecoming football game is scheduled for Friday, October 7th against Logan-Elm at 7pm.

The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, October 8th from 7pm-10pm in the high school gymnasium.

BC Marching Bulldogs are Headed to OMEA State Finals

Congratulations to the Marching Bulldogs for earning a Superior rating at the recent BC Classic and punching a ticket into the 2022 OMEA State Marching Band Finals!

The Bulldogs will continue their competitive season at the Westerville Invitational on Saturday, October 1st.

The Marching Bulldogs are also scheduled to perform on Saturday, October 29th at Hilliard Bradley High School. Times TBA. Congratulations Bulldogs!

Meet Sheila, BC Elementary School's Newest "Bulldog"

Sheila, a 7-year-old Irish setter therapy dog, is one of our newest staff members at Bloom-Carroll Elementary School.

Shelia works alongside Miss Jablonski, our elementary school social worker, and visits classrooms on Mondays and Thursdays each week to help support students' well being and to help foster a sense of belonging at school.

Therapy dogs such as Shelia can help children learn social skills, reduce stress and anxiety, and can even facilitate learning.

We are excited to have Sheila on our team!

All Hands on Deck for the 5th Grade Egg Competition

The egg-drop competition at BCES is always an exciting day for our 5th grade students. This competition requires students to work in teams to design and create a device that can keep a raw chicken egg intact when launched from various heights into a drop zone.

Once dropped, the egg is checked by students to see if it has broken or if there are any cracks. The team whose egg survives the highest drop wins.

When it came time to launch this year's egg designs, the BC maintenance crew climbed onto the roof of the new elementary school to assist in launching the eggs. It was a perfect day for the event!

Once the egg drop competition was complete, students returned to class to record and share the results and to see what designs worked best in protecting the egg.

Mid-State League Championship Teams

Congratulations to the players and coaches of the boys golf team and

the tennis team for winning this season's Mid-State League Championships!

Great job by all!

The Fairfield County Fair is coming up soon! As a reminder, there will be no school on October 12th- October 14th.
