Sometimes it feels like repentance doesn't work. We still feel guilty and ashamed. We still feel undeserving, judged, and rejected by others. There are still believers who are so confused, inconsistent, sad, and angry in this faith walk. Many of the same problems we had before we encountered the power of the Torah plague us.
Others no longer feel guilt at all. Rather than investigate the ongoing practice of repentance, a higher calling of holy faith, some simply vent their anger and frustration on the Church, Jews and Judaism, and an endless supply of conspiracy theories.
The ritual of Yom HaKippurim suggests that if we understood the Day of Atonements completely, we could be free of guilt and confusion. At the same time, we would appreciate each day's demand for repentance to grow in holiness.
The current COVID-19 crisis has given people all over the world time to consider and repent. What else can be done to make sure we no longer "sacrifice to goat demons" in the open field of the world when we return from our homes? The holies of the Torah portion explain a missing component that is rarely taught, but vital to understanding whey we need to celebrate the feasts of Adonai and His people Israel.
We plan to livestream again on Shabbat on YouTube at 12:30 Eastern. After this week, we'll think about phasing out the weekly Shabbat live stream and invite you to enroll in the weekly online Torah classes or view occasional special live stream teaching as our "slow boil" of the four horses of Revelation ramps up.
