FROM THE ECCT E NEWS
This Week's Message from the ECCT Reparations Task Force

Did you know? July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Month. The campaign was created to bring attention to the unique experiences of underrepresented people as it relates to mental health. Mental Health touches so many aspects of a person’s life, from the ability to experience joy, to have meaningful relationships, to hold a job, and just simply to survive. On May 29, 2020, the CEO of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), released a statement that pointed out the correlation between the constant stress of racism and mental health. This information is taken from Envision2bWell Inc.

Issues of mental health have long been ignored, particularly for BIPOC (Black Indigenous and other People of Color). What are your thoughts about this? Answer here

CHURCH BY THE POND
By Nancy Jacobs, Lay Coordinator
July 17th, 2021

It was a busy day in Bushnell Park as Hartford returns to a more normal way of being. Hartford Jazz Festival has returned so Church By The Pond shared space with musicians and others enjoying our park and good music.

Father Patrick Bush served as our pastoral leader today as we shared prayer and Holy Communion. Father Patrick's meditation on the Gospel focused on the divine work that Jesus did through small acts. Jesus' compassion and divine way are shared by his disciples as well as all of us who follow and accept that divinity. Twenty-seven congregants gathered in prayer.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Rocky Hill, prepared lunches for our surprisingly large group of 52 guests. They also provided Dunkin' Donut gift cards which will help at a future time. One gentleman sought me out to tell me how much he appreciated the gift card.
The Church by the Pond block will be returning next week.
We thank you for your ongoing support to God's Mission. Your pledge may be send via snail mail to our Cathedral ( Cathedral at 45 Church Street Hartford, CT 06103). You may also visit our website to make your pledge or donations or simply click below.

Christ Church Cathedral serves the entire Episcopal Church in Connecticut community for the good of the whole, and is the seat of the bishops. It is "our cathedral." Our Cathedral hosts four congregations in one worshiping community. It's not a parish, as its role is unique in the diocese (see 2015 task force report & resolution). In this its centennial year, Cathedral leaders and Centennial Committee members wish to remind all Episcopalians in CT that by virtue of their membership in a parish, they are members of our Cathedral. All are welcome at any time, and in particular, invited to these events .
