Wilderness Survival Stories - For fans of the Netflix series "Alone".
I love to hike, kayak and backpack, and because I enjoy these activities so much, I make it a point to leave these books at home when I'm out in the mountains or the woods. These should be read in the comfort of your own home - preferably with a roaring fire in front of you. - Paula, Librarian at the Savage Library
-
The River by Peter Heller - You'll be thinking about this one the next time you're canoeing in the Boundary Waters.
-
The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin - Read this one after you get back from skiing or snowshoeing.
-
Wintering by Peter Geye - Imagine your dad wanted to visit the northern Minnesota wilderness in true Voyageur style. Now imagine he took you with him, just as winter is setting in.
-
The Mountain Story by Lori Lansens - It's so easy for bad things to happen when you're hiking.
-
Lost in the Wild: Danger and Survival in the North Woods by Cary J. Griffith - Real-life wilderness survival in Minnesota.
