FBISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO HOLD VIRTUAL MEETING, JUNE 15
T he Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees will hold its Regular Board Meeting on Mon., June 15 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in virtual format, and all community members who wish to listen live to the meeting can do so at   www.fortbendisd.com/june15meeting . Community members who wish to address the Board during the Audience Items portion of the meeting are to follow the normal procedures and complete the  Request to Address the FBISD Board of Trustee - Regular Meeting ”  form available on the FBISD website. Please submit your request via the online form by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting so staff can confirm receipt of the request and provide you with the telephone number to participate in the meeting.  View the meeting agenda .
FBISD OFF CAMPUS PE ESTABLISHMENT/PROGRAM APPLICATION AVAILABLE
Fort Bend ISD’s Off Campus PE application window will soon open for 2020-2021 school year. Students may apply beginning July 13, 2020 through August 7, 2020 for the fall and spring semester. Meanwhile, representatives of local training establishments and programs can access an online form through July 31 to begin the FBISD establishment approval process. Once approved, students participating in Off Campus PE will train at one of these establishments to receive PE credits previously earned on campus. READ MORE
MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND FREE MEALS AVAILABLE TO FBISD FAMILIES
Mental health services provided through FBISD partners
Fort Bend ISD's school-based mental health partners, Vida Clinic and Clearhope Counseling and Wellness Center, are offering counseling services to all Fort Bend ISD students, families, and staff this summer. This will allow our  FBISD community t o access quality mental health services right from their own homes virtually or potentially face-to-face at a nearby campus or counseling office. To schedule services with Vida Clinic, please visit  vidaclinic.org   or contact the Vida Clinic Care Team at 512-518-2209 or by email at  vidacare@vidaclinic.org . To make an appointment or learn more about Clearhope, go to  clearhopewellness.com/about-us Both providers will work with each family or staff member for payment of services and funding options to fit their unique situation.

Austin High School student named Grand Prize Winner of national essay contest
Congratulations to Derek Jiang of Austin High School on being named the Grand Prize Winner of the 2019-2020 We the Students Essay Contest, sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute. This year’s contest prompted students in grades 8-12 to submit essays explaining what civil discourse means to them. The contest was open to students in the U.S., the District of Columbia, the U.S. Territories and American Armed Forces Schools Abroad.    READ MORE
Five Fort Bend ISD students among outstanding Texas students recognized for service
Bravo to the five Fort Bend ISD students – representing Clements High School and Quail Valley and Sartartia middle schools – who are among 69 outstanding young students from across the state to successfully complete membership in Education in Action’s 2019-2020 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council. After attending a Lone Star Leadership Academy summer camp, they were invited to join the Alumni Council to continue receiving leadership training during the school year. In addition to completing leadership skill-building lessons, each student identified a need in his or her community and created and led at least two others in a service project of his or her choosing.  READ MORE
Dr. Amber Grady named 2020-21 Region 4 Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year
The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) has named Dr. Amber Grady of Elkins High School as the 2020-2021 Region 4 Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year . As the Region 4 winner, she is eligible to compete at the state level. READ MORE
Goodman Elementary's Laura Rivera awarded SHABE Paraprofessional Scholarship
Laura Rivera, a special education aide at Goodman Elementary, was named a recipient of the 2020 SHABE (Suburban Houston Association for Bilingual Education) Paraprofessional Scholarship, in the amount of $500. The scholarship is awarded to paraprofessionals who wish to pursue a teaching career in bilingual education. READ MORE
