Jesus Christ Superstar - The 1970’s rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is based on the Gospel’s last week of Jesus’s life. FCT's production of Jesus Christ Superstar is directed by Matt Moore and produced by Mary Beth Balint. The show that was to begin last month is being rescheduled for no earlier than September due to the health crisis. Current ticket holders automatically have a credit on hold and will have priority seating options when new exact dates are determined. Rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar continue to be held virtually. Vocal director Katy Benko Miner and choreographer Alli Rivers are part of the excellent team that directs and inspires the talented cast online.
Congratulations to FCT's College Scholarship Recipients!

This year FCT is awarding four local scholarships. The first two are noted below. The other two scholarships will be announced at the Lofty Awards and Annual Membership Membership meeting and also appear in the next Spotlight.
Congratulations to one of Fauquier Community Theatre College Scholarship Recipients, Molly Marsh. Her goals include: "Looking for a fluid experience where I’m exposed to many forms of theatre, training, and design. I want to stretch my imagination and learn to hone my artistic eye. Women, it turns out, only makeup about 37% of the notable designers and directors in the Broadway community. The tide is turning, and I want to ride the wave." Fauquier Community Theatre wishes Molly every continued success in college and her career in the Arts. Molly was awarded the scholarship to major in Set Design. She is nominated for a Lofty Award for Set Design in FCT's production of Night Must Fall.
New Scholarship! FCT College Scholarship in memory of Richard and Natalie Thompson has been awarded to Gwenny Verity. Gwenny remarks, "I will not let my love for the stage end with my high school career. I expect theatre to stay with me throughout my life. Each and every person I have encountered at FCT has helped me to become not only a better performer, but a better person. I plan to share the kindness I have received from FCT with all who I meet throughout my academic and artistic career."
The Thompsons were very involved at FCT. Natalie was an actress, producer, choreographer, and board president. Admiral Thompson was successful in moving FCT to its current location. Gwenny is certain to have an impact in similar ways as she combines a passion for engineering and the arts. Look for Gwenny in FCT's Disney's Frozen, JR. playing the role of Anna.
