CHAMBER CHAT - WELCOME TO FALL!

Happy Autumn Equinox!

There are so many things to share, I'm not quite sure where to begin!

The Board called an end to summer August 30th and we had our first real in-person meeting since December! While we were hoping for a bit of a deck party, we ended up around my dining room table while the rain came down. The official business that day was to confirm the appointments of three new Board members - Mark Kirkpatrick, Acting President from Loyalist College, Susan Rowe, VP People & Strategy at Quinte Health Care and Belleville Police Service Chief Mike Callaghan.

We've also welcomed two new team members at the Log Cabin, so this was a great way for Yona (Visitor Services) and Tiffany (City Events) to get to know everyone.  Both have been with us through the busy summer season and are adapting quite nicely.  

From the Chamber side of things, we have had an excellent response to our events the past couple of weeks and it has been so nice to see people again.  

Thanks so much to those of you who were able to join us and we look forward to catching up with those we missed.  Check out a couple of video montages of the Member Appreciation Mingle and Golf Tournament.

We joined a couple of new businesses for grand openings (scroll on down) and we have FOUR more in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much to Tammatha and Steve from QBA for letting us grow your interest in hosting an event into one of the best Member mingles we've had!  With the great support of our other members in the Bell Tower Marketplace coming on board, we had over 130 register, nearly 100 check in (on time) and 88 passports completed to enter the amazing Grand Prize and others donated by our block party partners including Quinte Paint & Wallpaper and Drs Fitzpatrick & Weido...  Shoeless Joe's put together a great spread (with some sweet treats from Sugar Mama's), Chilangos gave sneak peeks into their new space and Pet Valu (our brand new member) offered pet friendly gifts.

It was also a great event to host our annual Member Appreciation Mingle, where members have a chance to win our exclusive offerings. Congratulations to this year's winners!

The Belleville Chamber of Commerce once again partnered with CrimeStoppers Quinte who generously welcomed us after a rain-out in 2021. The course at Trillium Wood was full with 116 golfers enjoying the day of golf, a putting contest, and some extra special holes, including a $10,000 HOLE-IN-ONE.    Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to all those who contributed through their play, their engagement and donations.   It is the support of our members that make the difference day after day as we continue with the work of the Chamber on behalf of the business community.

United Way Hastings & Prince Edward’s 2022 Campaign is officially underway with a goal of raising $2,000,000 for our community!

Hilary Murphy from Taskforce Engineering has taken the role of Campagn Cabinet Chair this year.

With rising costs, we’re seeing increased pressure on everyone, and people who have never needed help before, are needing it right now. Dozens of local organizations who receive funding through the United Way campaign are counting on our collaborative success.

This might be the least staged ribbon cutting photo ever, but we were having so much fun at the Doki Doki ribbon cutting!  Dale Hoard stepped up to represent the Chamber for this new Downtown business.  "Doki Doki" loosely translates to "pitter patter" and Jessie & Lindsay want this to happen to your heart when you feel the love inside their store. 

The store is a one-stop shop for gifts, anime, cosplay and more - often sourced directly from Japan - and they were able to outfit the Mayor with super long blond locks. 

As lifelong anime fans, their dream was to create a space where fans of all ages can come together to share their passions.

Randalyn Charron is excited to take over the business from the previous owner, who, after almost 18 years is retiring.  She's been thrilled with the support of local customers and also welcomes gently used, quality inventory.
