Message of the Moment

Dear St. James family,

It was such a delight to be back at St. James and to have the opportunity to preach back in August. Throughout my time in St. Louis in the Episcopal Service Corps and my first year of seminary in Princeton, I have missed the stability and comfort of my church family. When I begin to doubt my call or grow insecure about my own gifts for ministry, it is such a comfort to remember that St. James has affirmed my call and continues to love and support me through seminary. I want to thank you not only for your emotional and spiritual support but for your financial support as well. Thank you to those of you who came out to the spaghetti dinner fundraiser and to those of you who were unable to join but still left a donation. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for your generosity! Your support has helped me significantly in paying for books and my housing. This semester's rent is no longer lingering over my head and that is such a relief. Thank you! Thank you! I have begun my academic year internship at St. Luke and the Epiphany Episcopal Church in center city Philadelphia. I am LOVING it. The priest is eager to mentor me and the congregation is so welcoming. This is going to be an amazing opportunity in forming me to become a parish priest. I am loving my classes so far and am leading the Episcopal/ Anglican student group on campus. Thank you all for your support and I cannot wait to be home with you all again soon!

Love,

Maddy Bishop

First Things First

We are hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive this Sunday, September 25 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the West Guild Hall.

Basic A – Don’t miss your chance.

Basic A (a.k.a. adult confirmation class) started this week and we are kicking off the fall with a great group of people. It isn’t too late to join us. Plan on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel through November 15. Together we will explore how we find meaning in the Episcopal Church, discuss what we believe, and hear the story of how we got where we are. Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on your journey of faith, you are welcome in this group.
