COVID-19 Transplant Community Coalition

As part of our work with the COVID-19 Transplant Community Coalition, we are planning a live webinar event this November.

We want to know what COVID-19 related topics the transplant community is most interested in learning about. Additionally, what are your biggest COVID-19 concerns and what questions do you want answered?

Please consider taking this brief three question survey by Monday October 19th to help with the content of the upcoming webinar and future initiatives for the site.
Living Donor Research Study

Are you starting the living kidney donor process or currently being evaluated, waiting for transplant surgery to be scheduled, or disqualified from transplantation? If you answered yes to any of these questions you can assist with research by participating in an interview study. Kelly L. Nottingham, MPH, a
living donor herself, is working on a research project with Ohio University to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of living kidney donors during the pre-donation evaluation and improve the overall process.

The project has three components:

  1. You will answer one question to determine if you are eligible for the study. If you do not meet the criteria for the study, no additional information will be collected.
  2. If you are eligible for the study, you will be asked to complete additional questions. This pre-interview survey asks demographic questions and asks for your contact information.
  3. If you provided your contact information, you will be contacted to participate in an interview.

Your input is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in taking part in this research study, please visit the link below:

If you have any questions regarding this study, please contact the investigator, Kelly Nottingham (kn104892@ohio.edu) or her advisor Dr. Amy Chadwick, chadwick@ohio.edu.
TransplantNATION Photo Spread

Everybody could use a little inspiration during this COVID-19 pandemic. TransplantNATION would like to stimulate positivity in the upcoming magazine’s photospread. We hope you will help by sending in a photo of an individual or group who has been an inspiration to you at some point in your life. Please send a high-resolution photo for consideration in the photospread in the upcoming issue of TransplantNATION.

Transplant Games News!
Youth Pin Design Contest

The Transplant Life Foundation will be extending the youth pin design contest. The winning design will be used to create a limited number of actual pins that will be passed out at the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games in New Jersey, July 17-22, 2021. Pin designers must be 13 years or younger to participate. All submissions must be received by April 15, 2021. See below to view all the rules and where to submit your entry.
Flag Tour Re-Launch

The Transplant Games Flag Tour, which leads up to the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games in Northern New Jersey July 16-21, 2021, is similar to the Olympic torch being carried from venue to venue prior to the official games.

This flag tour is a big Games momentum builder for the TGA teams. Postponed due to COVID-19, the flag tour for the 2020 Transplant Games will be relaunched after the new year. The flag will begin making its way around the country in February and continue through June. Team managers will receive an email to sign up for their team’s flag tour dates. Be sure to check with your team manager to find out when the flag is coming to your city!

Passages

TransplantNATION magazine’s Passages page pays tribute to many milestones reached by individuals in our community. We intend to share news of births, marriages, anniversaries, transplant anniversaries, deaths, and any other significant announcements that celebrate the gift of life or acknowledge the support an individual(s) has given to the organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation world.

If you have a tribute you would like to share in an upcoming Passages page, please send your information (75 words or less) to Josh Sweedyk at

Transplant Life Foundation and Transplant Games of America would like to thank you for your support of our mission. The work that we do to educate the public and bring awareness about donation and transplantation would not be possible without your help and commitment.
