An Invitation to Write

"Man, the number of white, black, Hispanic, Asian people I saw out there, it's important. It's not just a black people problem; it's an America problem." ~Madiagne Sarr, a D.C. marcher, as reported by The Washington Post.
March in Cincinnati, OH.

In all that you've seen, heard, read and experienced in the past two weeks, what has affected you the most? Go...

Virtual
Community Events

As we miss gathering in person for writing circles and readings, we gain the beauty of including people from across the country, or even across the world! On May 28th, for Spaces: Where We Are, former participants who've moved away and friends of participants had the opportunity to join in for this open community event.

As Kathy Wade posted afterward on Facebook, "It was such a privilege to be among the readers in this international open mic. I loved the variety of voices, all reflecting on SPACE as we see, recollect or feel it."

Please watch in the weeks ahead, for another invitation to come together virtually to read and listen as a community.

Elizabeth Mannion Facilitates
Thursday Morning Class

We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Mannion as the new Thursday AM Core Class facilitator! Elizabeth is a long-time participant in the Thursday morning class and advocate for Women Writing for (a) Change. "I came to Women Writing to work on my memoir and immediately felt at home. I grew to love the organization so much that I agreed to join the Board of Trustees from 2016-2019. [Elizabeth also served as board president for 2017 and 2018.] During my time on the Board I decided to attend the Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy to become a facilitator."

Elizabeth dipped her toe in the water as a WWf(a)C facilitator during the 2019 summer session, filling in for Phebe Beiser, who has now retired. Elizabeth said of starting her ongoing role right now, "It is so important during these troubled times to have a safe place to share our words--I am honored to facilitate the Thursday Morning Writers!"

Please click here for more information on Elizabeth, and give her a huge welcome as she joins the faculty!

To support the health and creativity of our young writers and their families, our 2020 Summer Camp Sessions are now exclusively Virtual, with
appropriately modified schedules and activities for each age group that maintain our focus on creativity and community-building.  These programs, facilitated on the Zoom platform, run on the same scheduled week of camp, with condensed online hours Monday through Friday, as well as reduced fees. Themes and facilitators for each camp will remain the same. Intentionality will be maintained  virtually  through our regular WWf(a)C practices. Craft and writing prompt packets will be available for pickup and snail mail/email prior to the start of camp!  We can't wait to see you this summer!

Upcoming Classes
