The Federal Highway Administration's Office of Safety reviewed and evaluated applications for the Accelerating Safety Activities Program (ASAP) and awarded funds for two Kentucky LTAP projects: Traffic and Safety Academy, and Horizontal Curve Alignment Training.  

Traffic and Safety Academy

The Traffic and Safety Academy is designed to offer local governments training to reduce roadway departure and pedestrian fatalities.  Specific topics include low-cost safety improvements, examining crash data, risk management, regulations and guidelines and roadway departures.

October 31-November 1: Hilton Garden Inn, Georgetown

November 8-9: James E. Bruce Convention Center, Hopkinsville

Horizontal Curve Alignment Training

Horizontal Curve Alignment Training will train local transportation employees to understand the importance of proper horizontal alignment signing, utilize the current technology and record the data so that it is uniform across the state.

Both training programs are only available to local government agencies.  

Thanks to the funds provided through the ASAP grant, local governments can attend either training at no cost.  

  

The last Chainsaw Safety Training Clinic scheduled for 2017 still has space available!    

The clinic is a three-day event designed to help prepare participants for tree removal projects and safety conditions.  The sessions include: Demonstration Safety Training, Hands-On Safety Training, and Debris Removal.

Sally Crouch recently announced her retirement from the University of Kentucky.  

Sally has been the "Road Warrior" for the Technology Transfer Program for the past 14 years.  She would often pull up to the T2 building on Monday where we would load her car up with workshop material.  She would spend the next few days traveling to workshops to coordinate on-site activities and return to the office on Friday to have her car unloaded.  

There is no doubt that T2 couldn't have offered the number of quality training classes that we did without her assistance.  

From everyone at the Technology Transfer Program, thank you Sally for your hard work and willingness to travel to all corners of the Commonwealth.  We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
