Evergreen Speedway had the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs out this past Saturday Night. They Sold Out the event (per COVID guidelines). The weather was perfect. The racing was excellent! But the roar of the crowd is what put this event over the top! Evergreen Speedway is so thankful to everyone who came out to support them and have some fun. Don't forget Evergreen has different events every Saturday Night! Check their schedule HERE and join in the fun this racing season.

5th Annual Flags for our Fallen 5K
VFW Post 7511 and its Auxiliary are excited to announce the 5th Annual Flags for our Fallen 5k (Virtual) Race. Join us on Saturday, May 22nd, in remembering the lives of the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The event is virtual this year, which means you will register for the race, and on (or before) race day you should run a 5k and post photos to social media (Facebook or Instagram) with the #Flags4rFallen hashtag. You can run by yourself, with a friend or a group of friends! You'll have bragging rights, a cool medal, and have supported Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7511!
Registration for the race is $30 for early bird registration and $35 on or after April 22nd.
Race tee-shirts will also be available for purchase. We can only guarantee Race tee-shirts for those that register before April 22nd.
Pre-race tee-shirt pick-up will be available on Friday 5/21/20, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM @ 17150 W. Main Street, Monroe, WA 98272

CITY RECRUITING FOR SEVERAL OPEN POSITIONS

In the past week, the City of Monroe has opened recruitment for the following new positions:

  • Information Technology Manger. This this position will plan, organize, manage, and evaluate the information technology department, and ensure the department provides efficient and effective technical support services. 6-8 years progressively responsible experience in information technology, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience, is required.

  • Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator. This position will perform work in the operation and maintenance of the Monroe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and pump stations (PS). Prior experience in a sewage treatment plant is required, and Group II Washington State Wastewater treatment plant operator certification is preferred.

  • Senior Accountant. This position performs complex accounting activities, analyzes and audits financial records for completeness and conformance to policies and procedures, and recommends policies and procedures. Six years progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.

  • Paid internships. Interns will provide administrative support to the Executive and Human Resources Departments, city programs, and policies pertaining to all areas of local government, with particular responsibilities in policy analysis, community outreach, strategic planning, and organizational change. We anticipate these positions to last for 12-16 weeks. Successful candidates will possess or be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in public administration, business administration, or related field required, and have some experience with project management, and research, analysis, and development of public policy.

In addition to these, the City is actively recruiting for a City Clerk, Police Commander, Lateral Police Officer, and seasonal positions in the Parks and Public Works Departments. For more information on these positions and to apply, please visit the City's website.
The Boys & Girls Club's annual Campaign for Kids fundraiser has begun!
This year as they celebrate their 75th Anniversary their mission has never been so important. Over the last year, Clubs have remained OPEN and ready to serve the youth and families who need us the most. Funds raised will help to keep childcare fees affordable for families, provide healthy meals and snacks, and replenish program supplies and gym equipment.
