This week, the PA Legislature acknowledged retiring members. Most notably of the many departures was Senate Pro Tem Jake Corman who has served in the PA Senate since 1999. Senator Corman ran and won the seat after his father, Senator Doyle Corman, chose not to run again.

Among the comments by his fellow members of the Senate were his greatest accomplishments. Many commented on his unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility during very difficult budgetary issues facing Pennsylvania from 2009 through 2015. He also led and succeeded in passing significant Pension reform which threatened to cripple the Commonwealth financially.

Among other comments from his fellow Senators was observing his commitment to family. Minority Leader Jay Costa remarked that his commitment to be at every family event he could make it to was inspiring. A legislator’s schedule can be demanding, and Corman led by example.

Senator Corman was also praised for his commitment to his staff and those he worked with. He treated his staff like family and made sure they always felt supported.

On behalf of our Staff, Board and Executive Board, we would like to say thank you for your service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and your unwavering commitment to making Pennsylvania a better place to live, work, raise a family, and do business.

PA House Bill 987, Sponsored by Republican Representative Tim Hennessey and Democratic Representative Mike Carroll, passed unanimously through the Senate October 26th. This Legislation will make it illegal to suspend driver’s licenses for non driving related issues. This legislation is intended to enable workers to continue to work and support families. For more information, please see HERE (Bill Information - House Bill 987; Regular Session 2021-2022 - PA General Assembly (state.pa.us)) HB 987 now goes before Governor Wolf for his signature.
