Circle of Welcome Information
Thanks to all for their generosity in providing non-perishable items for our welcome baskets for Afghan refugees. Most of those items have been donated, and we are now moving into a new phase of support. St Mark’s Welcome Circle Team is scheduled to have their family of 10 arrive early next week.
Below you will find our immediate needs that will continue to be updated each week as we learn more about the ages of the children in the family we are supporting.
-
Basic Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper.
-
Food donations: fresh food items and naan bread.
-
Transportation: Many large vehicles will be needed to transport this family of 10 and their luggage particularly from the airport to their house upon arrival.
If you are able to help out, please contact Cindy Lauster at 317.435.8405 or cynthialauster@gmail.com.

Annual Contribution Statements
Your 2021 Annual Contribution Statements are available for pickup in the Commons. If you are not able to pick them up at church, Danielle is able to send them to you electronically via email. This will save on postage and allow you to receive them faster. If you are not able to pick them up, and do not want them emailed, they will be mailed to the address the church office has on file next week.
In your household envelope, you will also be receiving a reminder of your intended 2022 pledge. Please review this, update your automatic giving if needed, and contact the church office if you see discrepancies in this information.

|
2022 Updated Directory
Please take the time to review your contact information in the 2022 Directory. There will be a hard copy for you to review on Sunday in the commons. If you are unable to view this copy, please double check your information using this linked document. Notify Danielle with any edits that need to be made by January 31st. This directory will be available to pick up by mid-February.

Updated Security System
We are LIVE!
The security system in place at St. Mark's is active. This system will monitor the second level of our facility, just as the old system did. Once you come up any stairwell, or enter in the North Liberty St. entrance, the alarm will activate and you have 60 seconds to enter in the code on one of the two keypads. If you remain on the main floor (Fellowship Hall, Kitchen, ect) you will not need to deactivate the alarm system.
The code for the new system will be the same code as before. The disarming key pads are located next to the elevator on the second floor and at the end of the admin office hallway. If you need access to this code, or a lesson on how to disarm the system, please contact the church office or Steve.

NOISY Bucket Collection
Sunday, January 30th
The Noisy Bucket collection this Sunday will go to support the Lutheran Disaster Response team as they continue to support the tornado victims in Kentucky and surrounding states from the devastation left behind after the December 10th disaster.
Lutheran Disaster Response is engaging with partners in the affected areas, including the Indiana-Kentucky Synod, to respond to needs. Given the initial damage assessments, recovery will likely take years, and Lutheran Disaster Response is prepared to accompany survivors until the response is complete.

Some months ago we hung an orange banner to honor the lives of Indigenous children who were killed in boarding schools. It is important to continue to honor those lives by learning as much as we can about the schools and how the church was involved. The RHT is excited to introduce the new monthly e-newsletter, found here, from the NC Synod so you can do just that! If nothing else, at least watch the suggested documentary, "Home From School," and truly think about the reflection questions presented with it.

Adult Faith Formation—Worship Words
January 30th from 9:45am-10:45am
Even if you've been coming to church since before you can remember, the terms that Christians use can seem like a foreign language (hint: sometimes they are). Join Cantor David for his last week of exploration into the weird and wonderful words associated with the church. Whether you already know your Mag from your Nunc, or couldn't pick out a ciborium in a sea of chalices, everyone is guaranteed to (probably) learn something new! This class will meet in the sanctuary and via Zoom linked here.
