Congratulations to Mr. Greg Allington from Saginaw Public's Zilwaukee School!
This nomination comes from Mr. Allington's building principal, Mrs. Tina Munoz, for going above and beyond for his caseload of students & their parents, as well as securing the Schoolyard Habitat Grant for Zilwaukee School.
Mr. Greg Allington, a K-5 Special Education Teacher, always goes above and beyond for his students and parents. His supporting and accommodating nature are just a few of the reasons why he has excellent relationships with his students and their parents.
Like all other SPSD teachers, Mr. Allington has had to learn and incorporate new methods of instruction during the COVID-19 school closure since face-to-face instruction ceased back in the Spring of 2020. The format of instruction for the first six months of the school year, September-February, was done virtually via Zoom. Mr. Allington took into account the context in which his students were engaging in learning and the support they needed to receive at home while being responsive to students’ at-home learning needs, including space, device/internet access, and home schedules. He spent numerous hours beyond the workday working with parents and his students on the use of Zoom and Google Classroom features, in order to increase levels of academic engagement, as well as for interaction with classroom teachers and peers.
Year after year, Mr. Allington goes above and beyond serving our school as a whole as well as our staff. He serves in many roles including School Improvement Co-Chair, PBIS Team member, CPI Team Member, PTCC Teacher Representative, and mentor teacher.
Principal Munoz also commends Mr. Allington for his vision, research, organization, and passion in securing the Zilwaukee Schoolyard Habitat Grant Project. This project will not only enhance the science curriculum and STEM program; it also showcases an investment into the educational well-being of current and future Zilwaukee school students, as well as students of all schools within Saginaw Public School District!
