Board of Supervisors Meeting July 27
The Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, July 27. The meeting can be watched on Fairfax County Government Channel 16 and streamed live or listened to by calling 703-324-7700 (TTY 711). The meetings are also available later via video on demand. Two items the board will consider are endorsement of the Route 7 Bus Rapid Transit Preferred Alignment and the Virginia Department of Transportation Six-Year Secondary System Construction Program. To see the full agenda and more information on the board meetings visit the Fairfax County website.

Additionally, the board will hold public hearings on two land use cases in the Dranesville District:
3:30 Turner Farmhouse Foundation (SE 2020-DR-022)
Special Exception request by The Turner Farmhouse Foundation to permit a public benefit association to operate on 4.95-acre portion of the Turner Farm Park property. The applicant will provide meeting space for groups and individuals ranging from five to ten persons for programming relating to mental health and wellness. Overnight retreats are proposed to be held over the weekend. A map of the site and staff report can be found here.

3:30 Falls Church Propco LLC (SE 2021-DR-004)
Applicant requests approval of a special exception for a medical care facility to permit a change in ownership for the Powhatan Nursing Home, located at 2100 Powhatan Street. The facility was originally approved as a special permit which included a condition that issued the SP to the applicant only. Medical care facilities are now permitted only by special exception (SE) and the SP cannot simply be amended to reflect the ownership change. There are no other changes proposed to the existing site or operations. A map of the site and staff report can be found here.

Information on how to testify or submit comments can be found on the Clerk to the Board website. Contact Ben wiles in the Office of Supervisor Foust at Benjamin.Wiles@fairfaxcounty.gov or 703-356-0551 if you have any questions or comments.

Temporary Expanded Child Care Eligibility
The Child Care Assistance and Referral Program (CCAR) may be able to help with your child care expenses. Child care assistance may be available to families that are income eligible and demonstrate a need for care (due to employment, enrollment in school or participation in training). CCAR provides assistance with the cost of child care of children from birth to age 12 in family child care homes, centers and school-aged child care.

Applications received through December 31, 2021 are eligible for the following expanded eligibility criteria:
  • Families currently looking for work

9-1-1 Emergency Health Profile
Create a free emergency health profile so your critical health and medical information can be shared with first responders during an emergency or crisis event. Your emergency health profile will provide real-time health, medical, emergency contact, and background information to first responders when it matters most. Creating a profile is easy and takes only a few minutes.

Behavioral health information, pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, emergency contacts, and more can be entered into the voluntary database.

The information maintained is associated with an individual’s mobile phone number and only available when an emergency call is received from the telephone number provided. When calling 9-1-1 during an emergency or crisis, your vital health and medical information is made available to the Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) and dispatched to first responders.

Maintaining an updated profile is important and should be reviewed regularly. Updates after major health or life changes are valuable. The amount of information you provide is at your discretion.

Emergency technology company RapidSOS teamed-up with the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, and Direct Relief to sponsor this voluntary health database.
