SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Recognition of 2021 Administrators of the Year
Two district leaders were recognized for being named Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators, Region 17. Anne Silavs, Superintendent, was named Superintendent of the Year, and Teresa Lennox, Director of Maintenance/Operations, Transportation, and Technology, was named Classified Leader of the Year. 

Staff Report: Educational Supports and Programs
Tandy Taylor, Executive Director of Educational Services, provided a presentation highlighting the educational supports and programs offered to students this year through the district’s Instructional Learning Coaches and STEM and music programs.
BOARD ACTIONS
Class Act Program at King
The Board approved an agreement with the Pacific Symphony for King's 15th year of participation in the Class Act program. This year, Class Act is exploring the music of John Williams and the theme of “Symphony at the Movies II.” The cost will not exceed $350 and will be paid from the school's Title I funds.

Updated 2020/21 LCFF Budget Overview for Parents
The district’s 2020/21 LCFF Budget Overview for Parents presented for Board adoption as part of the first interim report on December 14, 2020, was discovered to be incomplete. An updated 2020/21 Budget Overview for Parents was presented for Board approval.

Recognition of Certificated and Classified Employees
The Board adopted resolutions designating May 12, 2021, as Day of the Teacher and May 17-21, 2021, as Classified School Employee Week to honor the district's certificated and classified employees for their dedicated service. 

Electronic Employee Records Management
The Board approved contracting with Frontline Education for their Central Solution and Professional Learning Management software programs to help streamline onboarding of new hires, districtwide distribution of forms and notices, and processing substitute requests. The total cost of $27,295.02 includes a one-time implementation fee and subscription fee for the period April 12, 2021, through June 30, 2022. 

Increased Need for Supplemental Healthcare Personnel Services
To support the increased demand for health services this year, the Board approved an increase of $20,000 to a previously approved agreement with Maxim Healthcare Staffing Services to provide licensed healthcare personnel on an as-needed basis. 

Student Attendance Software
The Board approved an agreement with School Innovations & Achievement for their Attention2Attendance data management system to assist the district in monitoring student attendance and providing effective intervention as needed. The cost for the period April 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024, is $85,100.
 
California Environmental Quality Act Exemption for Swain School Site
The district plans to install a small metal garage building on the former Swain school site as part of the property’s use for the Maintenance/Operations, Transportation, and Technology department. The Board held a public hearing to receive comments from the community prior to considering adoption of a resolution declaring the project as exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. There were no speakers for the public hearing, and the Board subsequently adopted the resolution and directed staff to file a Notice of Exemption. 

Maintenance/Construction Master Agreement
The Board awarded a unit price bid master agreement to M.P. South, Inc. for use on an as-needed basis for various maintenance/construction projects throughout the district. The agreement term is one year and may be renewed for four additional years under the same terms. Each project initiated under this master agreement will be presented for Board approval.

Furniture Purchase 
The Board authorized the purchase of office furniture and student desks from Culver-Newlin based on an existing San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools bid, as allowed under Public Contract Code. The total cost will not exceed $275,000.
DISCUSSION
Williams Legislation Uniform Complaints
The Board received a report indicating the district received no complaints related to instructional materials, emergency or urgent facilities conditions that pose a threat to the health and safety of pupils or staff, or teacher vacancy or misassignment for the third quarter of the 2020/21 school year.
